Management/9-1-1 Matt Davis, New Hanover County Fire Mike Cavaluzzi, Motorola Chairman Blackley called the meeting to order at 10:06a.m. Chairman Blackley asked if everyone had signed in. Chairman Blackley asked if everyone had a chance to review the minutes from September 23, 2010 and if there were any questions, comments, changes or corrections. There were not any. Chairman Blackley asked if there was a motion to approve. Mary Smith made a motion and Cynthia Deacon seconded. All in favor; none opposed. Motion passed. OLD BUSINESS: School Coverage Chairman Blackley asked Jerry Brewer to update everyone on the school coverage issue. Jerry informed everyone they are going to do a walk through with Motorola and a representative from the school so they could discuss possible wiring plans and areas they could use to set up the equipment. Jerry will see about coordinating the walk through. City and County Fire AVL Chairman Blackley stated they are having a meeting next week; on Tuesday. They need more testing and answer questions that have arisen. Donnie Hall has MDTs in, AVL hardware installed and will be able to test equipment. Wilmington Police have issues with OSSI; they are starting from scratch. Their MDT’s have frozen but they are working on the problems now. Warren wanted to ensure that New Hanover County IT was kept informed as he was concerned with agencies connecting with 9-1-1 when everything was ready. Mary said that she would check and see what has been communicated and to who to ensure everyone stayed informed. The Sheriff’s office is testing several items to try and save money. One of the items is PDA NetFree; but this can’t go to a secure site which the New Hanover County site is one. The full application is about $9 rather than spending $40 per month for access. MIFI is another that can be used for up to five to connect and save the $40 fee per person if each of them shares MIFI. Mary stated that there were problems with the radios they have at the mall; they had an exercise recently and they are all analog. The mall staff is interested in one digital. NEW BUSINESS Chairman Blackley asked if anyone had anything for new business. No one had anything. OTHER ITEMS AND REPORTS 9-1-1 Center Chairman Blackley asked Warren to update everyone on the 911 Center. Warren stated that UNC-W is now in the center and a portion of the cost is funded by UNC-W. Cynthia Deacon said that they are happy with the set up. Warren informed everyone that they would interview for new people in February. They are trying to increase the Quality Assurance for EMD and EFD. The County Commissioners have approved use of 9-1-1 Surcharge money to complete the Center and outfit the remaining five consoles so that if there is any situation that requires more staff, the Center will be able to accommodate them. Right now the Center is set up for 16 positions. Warren and Debora are reviewing software packages for employee testing. There is a lot of time, effort and money spent on training and some of the people are not able to work in the Center. Warren informed everyone that Larry Godley, the supervisor from A Squad, will be retiring December 13, 2010 with 30 years. IT Chairman Blackley asked David Butts if there was anything from IT. David said that they had nothing new right now except for a meeting with OSSI. Fire Services Donnie Hall introduced Matt Davis with New Hanover County Fire Services. He will soon be the alternate for County Fire. They are preparing for the North Carolina Department of Insurance site visit next week. Donnie does not think they will want to see the Center. Chairman Blackley asked if anyone had anything else to discuss. Warren stated Patricia Fields has retired from New Hanover Regional Hospital. Mike Core informed everyone that the Wrightsville Beach Policeman’s Ball was this weekend. There were tickets available if anyone was interested. Donnie Hall stated they were hosting the Firehouse Software Training Session next week. Chairman Blackley asked if there was anything else. Chairman Blackley adjourned at 10:34am.
