Minutes of the Quarterly Meeting for July 8, 2008
Cape Fear Council of Governments
Members Present: Alton Parker, Cay Davis, of Grime, John Brett,Mary £ Lewis,
Julie Brewer, Denise Shaurt, Kristi Dale
Members Absent: Joan Apke,John Bilobran, Faye Hoffman, Patricia Lawler,Sue
Moriarty
Regional Ombudsman: Harvin Quidas
Guest: Susie Sprenger
The meeting was opened by Alton Parker. The April minutes were read and approved.
Harvin announced that the October meeting would be held at theSenior Center at 3:00
P.M.
Harvin led a brief discussion of Resident's Rights relating to charges of services not
covered by Medicare and Medicaid should be specified at the time of admission.
Quarterly training followed which focused on communication. The Potato Story
illustrated that listening is more than hearing, and we use a lot of different ways to say the
same thing. Another point of interest was the digital TV transition and how it effects
residents who get most of their information from the TV.
Quarterly visitation reports were presented by John Brett and Vanin Quidas (for Joan
Apke)
Upcoming quarterly visits were scheduled and the meeting was adjourned.
