4:00 Call to Order
Welcome/Introductions
Request approval of the February meeting minutes (emailed 11 February 2016). Port, Waterway &
Beach Commission (PWBC) fund balance is ~$1631.98.
Current Efforts:
NHC’s Wrightsville Beach (WB) Coastal Storm Damage Reduction (CSDR) Project
The US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) has initiated formal consultation with the
US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), the Biological Opinion is anticipated in the July
timeframe.
Mason Inlet Relocation Project (MIRP)
As of March 1st approximately 417,000 cubic yards have been removed from the
realigned footprint or ~88% of the contracted volume.
Shallow Draft Inlet (SDI-5) Permitting
The USFWS has provided their Biological Opinion to the USACE.
The USACE will now coordinate permitting efforts with the NC Division of Coastal
Management (NCDCM)
Carolina Beach CSDR Project, Beach Renourishment Evaluation Report (BRER).
WRDA 16 options are being considered in terms of potential Report Language.
Risk Reduction (non-federal BRER requirement) and Refined Modeling
Both projects are underway.
WB CSDR Economic Update
The Wilmington District continues efforts on the economic assessment.
FY16 CB/KB CSDR Maintenance Events
Project is underway.
Carolina Beach Inlet
Maintenance dredging by the Merritt ended 24 February 2016.
