4:00 Call to Order
Welcome/Introductions
Request approval of the May meeting minutes (emailed 13 May 2016).
Current Efforts:
NHC’s Wrightsville Beach (WB) Coastal Storm Damage Reduction (CSDR) Project
NHC provided Biological Opinion (BO) comments to the USACE’s DRAFT reasonable
and prudent measures/terms and conditions.
USFWS’s BO is anticipated in the July timeframe.
Mason Inlet Relocation Project (MIRP)
2016 Spring Report is being drafted.
Shallow Draft Inlet (SDI-5) Permitting
An Interagency meeting has been requested, initiating a permit modification.
Carolina Beach CSDR Project, Beach Renourishment Evaluation Report (BRER).
Unencumbered General Investigation funds from the USACE’s FY16 Workplan were not
available.
Potential options within the anticipated Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) of
2016 are being considered.
Risk Reduction (non-federal BRER requirement) and Refined Modeling (all CSDRs)
Risk Reduction DRAFT Report anticipated in mid-summer 2016.
Refined Modeling Report for WB anticipated in late fall 2016.
WB CSDR Economic Update
USACE’s stakeholder meeting to review new WB benefit cost ratio, scheduling of KB
Level II economic assessment and general FY18 questions is to be rescheduled.
FY16 CB/KB CSDR Maintenance Events
Project completed in terms of sand placement.
Final surveys and accounting on going.
Carolina Beach Inlet
The next maintenance event is tentatively scheduled for July by the Merritt.
The USACE is to award an AIWW crossing contract in late summer.
Shoreline Mapping
The 2016 field data collection is complete; data reduction is in process.
