Current Efforts: Wrightsville Beach (WB) Coastal Storm Damage Reduction (CSDR) Project The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) FY18 CSDR contract was awarded to Weeks Marine Inc.; a 12 December pre-construction meeting is scheduled. The contracted volume is approximately 715,000 cubic yards placed. The Validation Report’s Project Management Plan (PMP) has been executed with all federal and non-federal funds in place. ValidationFederalNon-Federal Total Cost Study Cost Share Cost Share $552,500 $297,500 $850,000 Carolina Beach (CB) CSDR Project, Beach Renourishment Evaluation Report (BRER) The BRER’s PMP has been executed with all federal and non-federal funds in place. BRER Federal Non-Federal Total Cost Cost Share Cost Share $375,000 $375,000 $750,000 Kure Beach (KB) CSDR Project FY19 CSDR budget request has been submitted via the NC Division of Water Resources. Offshore Borrow Area B, USACE Geotechnical Assessment. The vibracore contract has been awarded. o The geophysical contract is being prepared for award. o The assessment results are intended to be used in KB’s FY19 CSDR plans and specifications. o Mason Inlet Relocation Project (MIRP) The MIRP’s 2018-2022 Monitoring and Engineering Services selection has been approved by the Board of County Commissioners. The contract is being prepared. The 2017 permit compliance monitoring data (scarp management, placement compaction testing, waterbird monitoring, sea turtle monitoring and sea beach amaranth monitoring) has been transmitted to the US Fish and Wildlife Service and the NC Wildlife Resources Commission. Carolina Beach Inlet (CBI) The next maintenance event is anticipated to begin 8 December. A four 24hr/day hopper operation (Currituck) is anticipated with deposition in the inshore dredge material management site (IDMMS).
