Welcome/Introductions
Request approval of the August meeting minutes (emailed 13 August 2018).
Current Efforts:
Carolina Beach (CB) and Kure Beach (KB) Fiscal Year (FY) 2019 Coastal Storm Damage Reduction (CSDR) Project
US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) post damage assessment (PDA) reports have been released.
Post-“Flo” drone surveys were flown 26 Sept. and a rod survey crew took shots on 4-5 Oct., data reduction is
underway.
Project information reports (PIR) will be amended inclusive of shoreline volume changes.
CSDR plans and specifications are to be amended on or about (o/a) 15 October with bid opening o/a 31 October,
award and notice to proceed (NTP) late Nov/early Dec.
Original placement volumes were estimated at CB ~650,000 cubic yards and KB ~450,000 cubic yards.
A CB Inlet maintenance option was removed as per USACE contracting.
Wrightsville Beach (WB) CSDR
USACE PDA report has been released.
Post-“Flo” drone survey was flown 28 Sept.; a rod survey crew is scheduled, data reduction will follow.
PIR will be prepared inclusive of shoreline volume changes.
Mason Inlet Relocation Project (MIRP)
At non-federal expense and as a contract option, the Mason Creek Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway (AIWW)
crossing is included in the USACE FY19 AIWW scope of work.
AIWW plans and specifications are to be amended o/a 15 October with bid opening o/a 31 October,
award and notice to proceed (NTP) late Nov/early Dec.
Post-“Flo” surveys and confined disposal facility (CDF) 241 spillway repairs by Figure 8 Island (F8) are in
progress.
Carolina Beach Inlet (CBI)
On 8 Aug, the Murdencompleted a ten-day (12-hrs/day) event.

USACE is targeting a November, three-day Merritt shake down event.
USACE has the Merritt scheduled for a 7-day event in Dec.
Shoreline Mapping Program
The 2018 shoreline mapping analysis is underway.
Refined Coastal Modeling (RCM)
The CB refined coastal modeling effort is in the Final stages; the DRAFT KB analysis is under review.
WB CSDR Project, Post Authorization Change Report (PACR)
A project status has been requested and a USACE draft document release date is tentatively June 2019.
CB, Beach Renourishment Evaluation Report (BRER)
A project status has been requested and a USACE draft document release date is tentatively May 2019.
Legislative Update:
Staff provided (26 Sept) the Office of State and Budget Management (OSBM), via the NC Division of Water Resources,
a requested Hurricane Florence Recovery projects list associated with dredging, maintenance of dredged areas,
beach re-nourishment and potential projects requiring State collaboration with the US Army Corps of Engineers.
2018 Water Resources Development Act pending.
