05/01/1985 BOH Minutes 01042 The New Hanover County Board of Health met on Wednesday, May 1, 1985, at the New Hanover County Health Department. ......".- Members Present: Jean Credle, Chairman Carl Durham William Grathwol, V.Chmn. Charles Hicks, M.D. Nolan O'Neal Harley Phillips, D.V.M. Irvin Roseman, D.D.S. Arnold Sobol, O.D. James Strickland Hobart Whaley Dr. Maurice Wilson Members Absent: None Others Present: Robert S. Parker, Secretary to the Board Mabel Price, Recording Secretary Mrs. Credle, Chairman, called the meeting to order and called for corrections to the April 3, 1985 Wilson moved the minutes be approved. Marian reported that the this for the past four years. Capital Improvements Committee Report: Dr. Wilson asked Mr. Parker to give the committee report. Mr. Parker reported that the Commissioners had selected Synthesis as the architect to draw up plans for the expansion of the Health Department building. He said that Mr. Cooper had set up a meeting between the architects, Mr. Cooper and Mr. Parker to begin discussing the work. .....'"- Environmental Health Committee Report: Mr. Grathwol gave a background of the way sub-divisions are presently approved. He also presented a new policy statement for lot evaluations in sub-divisions which had been drawn up by the committee. Mr. Durham moved the Policy Statement for lot evaluations in sub-divisions, dated July 1, 1985, be adopted. Mr. O'Neal seconded the motion. After much discussion, the motion was defeated 5 to 4. Mr. Grathwol then moved that the policy be discussed at a public hearing to be held in conjunction with the June Board of Health meeting. The motion was seconded by Dr. Wilson and carried unanimously. ~..-..... 01043 In general the Board expressed feelings that the Developers should have input before a policy is adopted. Inspection of Sewage Treatment System for Relocation of Mobile Home or Conventional Home - $15.00. 2. Re-certification of Existing Sewage Treatment Systems (homes being re-sold) - $15.00. 3. Preliminary Inspection of Proposed Subdivisions or Mobile Home Parks - $25.00 first acre, $10.00 each additional acre. Dr. Hicks seconded the mot ion and it carried unanimously. fees will go into effect on July 1, 1985. Mr. Parker told the Board that State Personnel has rejected the idea of award money for the Super Staff Program. Mr. Parker reminded the Board of the Eastern District North Carolina Public Association's Annual Meeting to be held in Wilmington on May 8, 9 and 10 and urged them to attend if at all possible. Mr. Parker told the Board that construction is underway to convert the auditorium into additional clinic space.
