REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING, BOARD OF HEAl.TH

Present: Chairman Addison Hewlett, Mr. H. M. Roland, Mayor Thomas
E. Cooper, Dr. J. C. Wessell, and Dr. B. R. Morrison.
Minutes of last meeting were read and approved.

The Health Officer presented the monthly reports.
Dr. Wessell reported to the Board that he had heard a good many complaints
to the effect that in the territory east of Tenth Street, garbage was not collected
more than twice a week at best. The Health Officer was instructed to take it up
with the proper authorities and see what is actually being done.
Mr. Hewlett reported that he and Mr. Bibbersiein and Mr. Loughlin had made
the preliminary arrangements to tile drain eastwardly the area east of Seventeenth
and Wooster Streets, about which complaint was made at the May meeting.
The problem of odors arising from chlorinated effluent of the Oleander
sewage disposal system was discussed by Mr. W. A. McGirt and Mr. Hugh MacRae.
Mr. McGirt had with him a number of residents of new Forest Hills who complained
of odors from the above mentioned sewer system. After a general discussion of the
various angles of this problem, it was moved by Mayor Cooper, seconded by Mr. Roland,
that Dr. Wessell, Dr. llorrison, and Chairman Hewlett be appointed a committee to
investieate and report back at the next Board meeting. Carried.
Attorney John Stevens was present with Mr. Otto Leeuwenburg to meet any com-
plaints that might be brought against the Leeuwenburg Dairy by residents of that
vicinity. In the absence of any complainants, Mr. Stevens asked that the Board
notify him and give him the privileee of attending future meetings in case the
Board may be aware of the appearance of any deleeation before the Board on this
matter. He was promised such cooperation.
Dr- Wm. E. Adair, Jr. was elected Assistant Health Officer and county
physician, effective July 1, 1940.
The 1940-41 budget was approved as presented by the Health Officer.
There being no furtre r business, the Board adjourned.
