REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING BOARD OF HEALTH
HELD IN OFFICE OF BOARD
MAY 13, 1943

Present: Mr. Hewlett, Mr. ROland, Dr. Wessell, Dr. Morrison,
Mayor Yow and Dr. tloore.
The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
The Health Officer presented the monthly reports.
The Health Officer discussed with the Board members the arrangement
of the budget for 1943-1944, but delayed until June the actual pro-
posal of the budget.
The Board members were given a copy of the state Cafe Score Sheet
and were requested to decide between then and the June meeting whether
or not our department shall post grades in public institutions such as
hospitals, jails, county homes, etc.
Mr. J. B. Edwards, Dairy Inspector, reported to the Board that V~itels
Ice Cream and Milk COl"pany was at a point where it had to order a supply
of milk caps. The Board was asked for recommendations as to whether or
not he should order his usual Grade A caps in view of the fact that there
had been a nwnber of meetings between the State Board of Health officials,
the Governor and representatives of the milk industry, results of which
meetings we had had no official notification of. The Board members sug-
cested that he order his usual supply of Grade A caps in the absence of
any official notification of changes in labels.
Mr. Hewlett discussed bri8fly with the, DO ,,1'0. "cemb'rs the prob18m ef

and the Health Cfficer act as a comnuttee to make tentative reconlffienda-
tions as to plans and possible cost of slaughter houses meetine the
minimum requirements. This conunittee was specifically requested to trJ"
to hold the SUf[ested plans at as Iowa cost as possible.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned.
