Roland, 2nd Dr. James H. Smith. On motion by Mr. Roland, seconded by Dr. Knox, the minutes of the last mp.eting were approved without being read. Carried. Robert R. Bond, Attorney for the Cape Fear Hedical Society, asked to appear before the Board relative to certaih rul2s 2p,)lying to che review of all chest X-ray films for foodhandlers, teachers, etc., by the health department. The Board after hearing the request that members of the Cape Fear Medical Society not be required to submit films for review took the matter under advisement and >!ill decide after a thorough study has been made. It was pointed out thruugh Attorney Bond that the review of films by specialists in the field of chest X-rays was common practice and many of the films from this department \'Iere reviewed by the State ;;anaLoriuJIl. It ,as a very simple mattl'r to mail films and after study by specialists they were returned to the physician. It was also pointed out that this rule apply to all practicing ph)lcicians in Ne>! Haaover County and that this department thought it vRS a practice that should be continued. The Health Director requested permi0sion of the Board to attend the American Public Health Association meeting to be held in St. Louis October 26-31, 1958. On motion by l"layor Wade, seconded by Hr. Roland, permission viaS granted. Carried. ~ ~ The Health Director informed the board members that l~nday and Tuesday, October 6th and 7th, this health department would be visited by a group from the ::>chool of Public Health, Chapel Hill, North Carolina, composed of thirty four graduate students and four faculty members. The purpose of this meeting \BS to allow these students to observe public health activity as it operetes in a local health depart- ment. The Health Director durther suggested that if it Vlere possible for the City and County governments to give a luncheon, Monday, October 6th, for this group it would constitute a very fine goodwill g2sture. These graduate students represented many different states in the United States; namely, Texas, California, Alabama, Georgia., Florida, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, ~assachusetts, New York, f~ryland, Illinois, Ohio, Louisiana, lndiana, Kansas, Arkansas, North and South Cbrolir~; also the newly formed State of Alaska and Egypt, Thailand, IndoBesia and Canada. Chairman Hall and fayor Wade, by telephone arranged a luncheon to be given on Monday, October 6th, at 12:30 at the Ark. Hr. Lassiter gave a brief report on storm damages stating that current and water were now availa.ble, as far as he knew, in all purts of the County.
