Ninutes of the August 11 meeting viere approved by motion of Dr. Wagoner, seconded
by llayor Allsbrook.
Orientation of a Nurse from Pender County: Information was given to the Board
that our nursing department has been asked by the State Board of Health to do a
two weeks orientation of a nurse from Pender County.
Berm at Wrightsville Beach:
three days at Wrightsville

The Board was informed that a mobile lab unit spent

Staff Changes: It was reported that I~. A. Keith Glover, Bacteriologist II,
has resigned effective September 1. He is being replaced by I~. Richard V.
Bates from Raleigh.
Information was also given that we are now one nurse short on our staff.
Disease cut one off beginning July 1 and Project Head Start paid her for
and August but funds are no longer available to pay this extra nurse.

Insect and Rodent Budget: There was a discussion of the fact that the City vms
not contributing to the Insect and Rodent Budget. llayor Allsbrook, Dr. Hooper
and the City and County Attorneys, Hr. Tillery and I'~. Yow, will meet Tuesday,
September 7th, concerning this matter.
Sanitarian Salary: It was brought to the attention of the Board that in April,
Clifton N. Dixon, Sanitarian I's salary was raised by this Board to $435.00 per
month. Since this was not on a step of the old pay scale and the new year had
not begun, the J.lerit System asked that vie move this back to ~;425.00, which they
approved. Since that time IeiI'. Dixon has been paid $425.00 per month. Before
this raise was given, copies of our Tentative Budget were given out showing I~.
Dixon's salary as $386.00 per month, which was his old rate of pay. The Connnission-
ers only approved $396.00 for him. l.,otion was made by ]'layor Allsbrook, seconded
by Dr. liagoner that we pay ].~. Dixon ~l396.00 until the amount of the raises are
settled, then pay him retroactive the same as the others if a larger aJllount is
approved. Notion carried.
Plumbing at New Hospital: I~. Tillery reported there had been some complaints
about the plumbers at the new hospital using more than on helper to each Journey-
man plumber. These plumbers have been informed that this is not proper.
There being no further business the meeting was adjourned.
