MINUTES OF BOARD OF HEALTH, September 6, 1967

Minutes of the June meeting were approved.
Developmental Evaluation Clinic: Dr. T. D. Scurletis, Dr. John King, Dr.
Robert Fink and Dr. Ernest Neely from the Personal Health Division of the
State Board of Health met with the Board to discuss the present Develop-
mental Evaluation Clinic which is located at Babies Hospital. The Health
Department's participation is a strictly limited role of handling finances.
Dr. Robert Melton is presently the Director of the Clinic and holds a clinic
on Wednesday afternoon.
Dr. King was spokesman for the group and called on the others for specific
items of the presentation. Dr. Fink presented the Concept of the Clinic,
Dr. Neely presented the Personnel, the salary scales and case loads as
compared with other clinics in the State and Dr. Scurletis presented the
views of the Council on Mental Retardation and the laws. A discussion
period followed.
As a result of the presentation and discussion, it was decided that a
committee would be appointed by the Board of Health to meet with State
personnel and with leaders of the local DEC to work out existing problems.
Dr. King will be notified as soon as the committee has been appointed.

City Water Connections: Mr. Fry of the City Water Department appeared
before the Board to ask that the Health Department begin inspecting inci-
dents of cross connections between city water and private wells. Dr. Knox
made the motion that as soon as the legal requirements are met that we begin
making these inspections and that permits be sold for $1.25 each to cover the
cost of the inspections. Dr. Hooper seconded the motion. Motion carried.
There being no further business the meeting was adjourned.
