11/11/1981 00880 The New Hanover County Board of Health met on Wednesday, November 11, 1981 at the New Hanover County Health Department. ..,,- Members Present: J. William Eakins, M. D., Chairman Hobart Whaley, Vice Chairman Carl Durham Hal A. Franklin, II, M. D. William Grathwol Roma Lee Hall Larry Neal, D. D. S. Members Absent: Donald Blake Richard Reeder Others Present: James M. Brown, Secretary to the Board Robert Pope, County Attorney Mabel Price, Recording Secretary Dr. Eakins, Chairman, called the meeting to order at 8:10 A. M. and called for corrections to the October 7, 1981 minutes. Dr. Eakins moved the minutes be approved. Mr. Whaley seconded the motion and it carried unanimously. _... Fish, Shellfish and Seafood Ordinance: Dr. Neal had mailed proposed revised copies of the Fish, Shellfish and Seafood Ordinance to Board Members. After much discussion regarding the proposed ordinance the Board suggested that copies be mailed to seafood handlers for input. Board Members were also asked to further study the ordinance and give their input to Dr. Neal or Mr. Brown. After the above information is compiled the proposed ordinance will be brought back to the Board for action. Solid Waste Ordinance: Dr. Franklin had mailed proposed revised copies of the Solid Waste Ordinance to Board Members. After discussion of the proposed addi- tions and changes to the ordinance, it was suggested that the ordinance be sent to Ed Hilton, County Engineer, for his input. Dr. Franklin will bring back the final draft for review by the Board before it is presented to the Commissioners for their adoption. Mr. Brown told the Board that the bids had been received and opened for the Health Department's Management Study. The study will include Communications, Space Utilization and Records Management. Gary Cannon, Assistant County Manager, and Mr. Brown are reviewing the bids and will recommend to the Board of Commission- ers a firm to which the contract will be awarded. There being no further business, Dr. Eakins moved the meeting be adjourned. Grathwol seconded the motion and it unanimously carried and the meeting was journed at 9:35 P. M. Mr. ad- .........
