Lt. Paul Verzaal introduced himself; it is his second meeting. Review and Approval of Minutes Teresa emailed everyone a copy. Frank asked the group if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes of the March 10, 2021 meeting. Hearing none, Commissioner Barfield made a motion to accept the minutes; Elizabeth Meyer seconded that motion. The motion carried by unanimous affirmation (no objections voiced when asked). Announcements Frank asked if there were any announcements from any of our partners. There were none. Corning 2 Presentation, Elizabeth Meyer, Stepan Company Elizabeth Meyer provided an overview of the Stepan Company and their products, and the Wilmington plant's emergency response plan, capabilities, and available equipment as well as their interaction with off-site response agencies. At the conclusion of the presentation, Frank put out an invitation to all LEPC members to develop and share similar presentations about their facilities so we can all learn a little about each facility and discussed the benefit it provides to our public safety partners. Commodity Flow Study Update Frank reviewed the information from Teresa’s May 20th email regarding the status of the Commodity Flow Study and the importance of any member facility that John Steinauer has reached out to for more information, the importance of responding and answering the questions to assist in building a completed study to aid in evaluating the risk. All information provided is considered "For Official Use Only" and will not be shared indiscriminately. If any partners that had not responded yet have any concerns, reach out to Teresa or John Steinauer to get your questions or concerns answered. 4th of July Celebration Paul Verzaal provided an overview of the Wilmington July 4th Celebration that will include The Battle for Independence foot races at the Point at Barclay throughout the morning. The grand opening of Riverfront Park will take place from 2:00 pm – 6:30 pm with live bands, vendors, etc. While free admission, it is a ticketed event; this is being handled by Live Nation. A professional fireworks display is planned from 9:05 pm – 9:25 pm. Wilmington Police Department and its partners are developing a traffic plan to address the large crowd expected. Committee Updates 1)Executive Committee – no report (Commodity Flow Study status reported earlier) 2)Emergency Planning /Response – no report. Frank provided a general update on the last meeting regarding development of a tabletop exercise, building in the future to full scale exercise and the committee’s search of a partner willing to be the subject of both tabletop and full scale exercises. 3)Community Education / Public Awareness – no report. Open Forum Frank requested any announcements or new agenda items from the group. Elizabeth Meyer requested the status of chemical release notification procedure update be included for the next meeting. No other items brought forward. Closing Frank announced the next meeting will be July 14th and thanked everyone for their attendance. Meeting closed at 11:43 am.
