Chairman Powell asked if everyone had reviewed the March 27, 2008 minutes and if anyone had any questions, comments or changes. Chairman Powell asked if there was a motion to approve the minutes, Tom Eason made a motion and Bill Younginer seconded. Motion approved. Chairman Powell informed everyone that Warren was delayed but that he left word that the negotiations were ongoing with the radio situation. Nothing has changed and nothing to report. Old Business: Chairman Powell stated that Wrightsville Beach Fire was going digital on Tuesday. We will keep everyone posted. This might mean they may have to do some patching. Chief Younginer talked about the 10 radios for Carolina Beach Fire and needing to get them (Fire) to talk with someone with Wireless to see what they should do to get them set up. They want to flash them down and would like to see how Wrightsville Beach does with theirs. The radios are 1500’s which are going to limit them (CB Fire). They should go talk to Wrightsville Beach before they invest too much money into the radios. Robbie asked how that would affect EMS and Chairman Powell said that he did not think it would as TAC II was hard patched. Jason informed everyone that Med TAC 1 & 2 were hard patched. Robbie said that EMS would probably go digital next month. Genia stated that the City of Wilmington would not be getting any new radios until after July. They will do it under capital projects. New Business: Public Safety Communications Center: Brenda Hewlett distributed the monthly agency reports to Committee members via email. Brenda gave an update on the happenings in the Center. 􀁸 Brenda and Debora met with Wilmington Fire, County Fire and Wrightsville Beach Fire. Hopefully this will start May 1; they will give the code then the English translation. Once they are enroute, they will be given the details. There have been flip charts for fire for each of the trucks ordered and cards made for everyone courtesy of County Fire. 􀁸 We are still looking at unit recommend for the county; we were hoping to start this for the summer but still trying to put everything in place. There are things that need to be loaded for the live side. We are trying to come to an agreement for a happy medium to utilize this to the fullest potential. This may eliminate the need for how many departments respond to a particular event which may make things better for everyone. There is not an anticipated date as of yet. Leslie has checked with the SBI about DCI in the car and it is in testing. They are also testing Mobile SAFIS; for laptops and PDAs. There is not a release date yet but Leslie will be kept posted. She has volunteered the County for a test when they are ready so that hopefully we will be first in line. Tom Eason said that Sharon Kane had the mobile CAD for PDAs. Wrightsville Beach PD was interested in the mobile devices. Leslie asked if Jan would get in touch with Sharon about the devices to see how they work. Jan asked where everyone was with the AVLs. Tom Eason stated that he understood that Verizon wasn’t going to work with the AVLs. Jan said no, it wouldn’t. Now she understood they were testing a new technology. Tom said they were going to try PUCK. IT with the City is supposed be testing it but it doesn’t look like it is going to hold up. At this point it looks like the hardware that was recommended is what they are going to have to use which is Tremble. Tremble has been the standard for years for portable type applications. Jan will get Robbie an updated price if EMS intends to get it implemented. Chairman Powell inquired if there was anything to add. Chairman Powell adjourned at 10:27 A.M.
