The meeting was called to order by Chairman Dean Gattone at 4:00 PM. Approval of Minutes: Lowell Soucie A motion to accept the October 21, 2009 minutes as presented was made by Jack Mills, seconded by Sandra Sheridan and passed without opposition. Consideration of Absences: Lowell Soucie John Haley and Linda Chapman were so noted as excused. 􀀦􀁋􀁄􀁌􀁕􀁐􀁄􀁑􀂶􀁖􀀃􀀵􀁈􀁓􀁒􀁕􀁗􀀝􀀃􀀃Dean Gattone Dean recognized Advisory Board member Jack Mills on receiving the Cape Fear Museum Associates, Inc. Volunteer of The Year award. The mid-year review of the achievement indicators shows an overall 17% increase in visitation. School program attendance is down due to cutback in funds for bussing students to outside venues. Board members received a printout of the detailed achievem􀁈􀁑􀁗􀀃􀁌􀁑􀁇􀁌􀁆􀁄􀁗􀁒􀁕􀁖􀂶􀀃􀁕􀁈􀁓􀁒􀁕� �􀀑 Associates Report: Tom Cunningham A monthly meeting of the Cape Fear Museum Associates, Inc. was not held in December. Facilities Report: Bill Terrell The ceiling in the Williston Auditorium is being raised to accommodate the Star Lab. A six inch clearance is needed to meet county fire codes. New Hanover County Property Management Department is doing the work. Staff is working on the interpretation of the Maritime Pavilion. Recommendations were made to 1) waive the admission fee during construction, 2) charge half price admission, or 3) continue to charge as usual but give complimentary coupons for visitors to return after the new exhibit opens on April 2, 2010. Dean Gattone made a motion to accept recommendation (3), was seconded by Jack Mills and passed with notation that visitor protesting the admission fee would be admitted complimentary. Education/Accreditat ion: Ruth A PowerPoint presentation was given on the upcoming accreditation site visit. Site visit schedule was reviewed. The two site inspectors will be housed at the Riverside Hilton Hotel. Jerome Fennell, Director of New Hanover County Property Management will be in the Museum to accompany the site inspectors on the facility tour. Old/New Business Bill Terrell reminded the board members to keep in mind our advocacy to our elected state legislators. Introductions with newly elected members of the House and Senate will be needed after the election is held. The next board meeting will be on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at 4:00 PM in the Williston Auditorium, Cape Fear Museum.
