The meeting was called to order by Chairman Dean Gattone at 4:00 PM. Approval of Minutes: Lowell Soucie One correction to reflect Facilities Report by Chair Bill Terrell. A motion to accept the January 20, 2010 corrected minutes was made by Jack Bragg, seconded by Sandra Sheridan and passed without opposition. Consideration of Absences: Lowell Soucie John Haley, Dawn McKernan, Sandra Sheridan and Jack Mills were so noted as excused. 􀀦􀁋􀁄􀁌􀁕􀁐􀁄􀁑􀂶􀁖􀀃􀀵􀁈􀁓􀁒􀁕􀁗􀀝􀀃􀀃Dean Gattone Dean and Ruth Haas presented a brief review of the accreditation site visit on February 1 and 2, 2010. There was moderate confusion noted by the review team on the governance structure. Otherwise, the site visit was successful. The opening reception for the new exhibit is scheduled for April 1, 2010 from 6:30 PM 􀂱 9:00 PM. CFMA, Inc. is planning a silent auction during the reception. Museum has tentative space on the March 15, 2010 New Hanover County Commissioners agenda. Ruth will be presenting a PowerPoint report on the state of the Museum. Dean encouraged board members to attend this meeting and to submit items of interest they would like to see in the presentation. Currently seeking grant funds to support historical research endeavors. Applications are in process for ?????????(Ruth and Lowell I could not understand the sentences.) research programs for the Museum Historian. Collaboration and funding search is underway to support a yearly traveling exhibit for the Museum. Currently awaiting information of one grant application for managing and conserving collections. The Museum is now on Face Book and Twitter. Planning for the Maritime Museum pavilion is in process. Facilities: Bill Terrell A tour of the lower exhibit area under construction to house the new exhibit will take place immediately following the board meeting today.
