Bill Terrell, CFM Advisory Board Chair, called the meeting to order at 4:03 PM. Approval of Minutes: John Haley Jack Mills moved approval of the September 19, 2007 minutes; Bob Jones seconded the motion; minutes were approved without opposition. Consideration of Absences: John Haley Linda Chapman and Lowell Soucie were approved as absent. 􀀦􀁋􀁄􀁌􀁕􀁐􀁄􀁑􀂶􀁖􀀃􀀵􀁈􀁓􀁒􀁕􀁗􀀝􀀃􀀃􀀥􀁌􀁏􀁏􀀃􀀷􀁈􀁕􀁕􀁈􀁏􀁏 Reminded all members to continue to review the action items and visions. The advantages of a yearly board retreat were discussed and a suggestion was made to change the retreat from a Saturday in November to a two hour joint meeting on a Wednesday evening. There was a general consensus to cancel the November 3, 2007 board retreat. The November board meeting has been changed from November 21, 2007 to November 28, 2007. The November 28th meeting from 4:00 to 7:00 PM could also serve as the joint board retreat to include a wine and cheese reception. CFM wants to work cooperatively with the property owner on our expansion plans. Program/Accreditation Report: Bob Jones Individual accreditation binders were distributed to each board member. Bob gave a guided overview of 􀁗􀁋􀁈􀀃􀁑􀁒􀁗􀁈􀁅􀁒􀁒􀁎􀂶􀁖􀀃􀁆􀁒􀁑􀁗􀁈􀁑􀁗􀁖􀀑 Bob gave further details on the actual accreditation process, describing the what, when, how and where of the procedure. The member of the CFMA Accreditation/Museum Programs Committee will be the guiding arm in assisting everyone in preparing their portion of the questionnaires. Bill Terrell stated that the Chair would entertain a motion to proceed with re-accreditation process. Bob Jones offered a motion to this effect which was seconded by Jack Mills. Motion passed. 􀀧􀁌􀁕􀁈􀁆􀁗􀁒􀁕􀂶s Report: Ruth Haas Janine Powell was introduced as the new Development Coordinator for the Museum. An update on the Museum staff shortage was presented. The new shell exhibit has been successfully installed. The Museum will host the North Carolina Shell Show September 21-23, 2007. Admission to the show will be included with general admission. Staff members are very busy working on the OCEAN exhibit. A grant has been submitted to the North Carolina Humanities Council to support a lecture series. Associates Report: Ruth Haas The first meeting of the 2008 GALA committee will be held on September 24, 2007. There being no further business the meeting was adjourned by Bill Terrell at 5:10 PM. The next board meeting will be on Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at 4:00 PM in the Williston Auditorium at the Cape Fear Museum.
