held its regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, October 17, 2007 in the Williston Auditorium at the Cape Fear Museum. Dean Gattone, CFM Advisory Board Vice-Chair, called the meeting to
order at 4:00 PM. Approval of Minutes: John Haley Two corrections were noted; correct spelling of Lowell name under
rd bullet point under Program/Accreditation Report on page two. Motion for approval with corrections made by Linda Chapman
and seconded by Stuart Ball. Motion passed. Consideration of Absences: John Haley Bill Terrell and Ann Griffith were approved as absent. Facilities Report: Jack Mills On September 30,
2007 at 3:00 PM an executive tour of the Museum was hosted for the owners of the property adjacent to the Museum. The tour was a success and established a good working relationship between
the homeowners and the Museum. A return visit is anticipated. Presentation of Revised Museum Master Plan: Bruce Bowman Bruce Bowman delivered a comprehensive and detailed presentation
of the Revised Museum Master Plan. Ruth Haas asked Board members to submit to her what they think are the strong points of the plan that should be stressed in our efforts to promote

Auction Program/Accreditation Report: Bob Jones Bob reviewed the accreditation folder contents and specifically the self-study questions. Board members should have a copy of the previous
accreditation report. If not, please let Bob know. Joint board meeting will be held on November 28, 2007 from 4:00 PM to 7:00
PM and will include a social hour. A story board of the revised museum master plan will be on display for the joint board meeting.
3 Associates Report: Janine Powell Winter Jazz Series begins November 2, 2007 Harry and Gayle Van Velsor have sponsored the series again this year. We are working on an End of year
Appeal letter. The focus of the letter will be conservation with emphasis on: @$13,000 34-star Union Flag @$6,000 Fort Fisher Flag
@$6,000 rca 1875 from the Sprunt family @$2,500 Received funding from the Landfall Foundation-$4,000 for the opening video for the
OCEAN Exhibit. Applying for IMLS-Museums for America grant for the Longleaf Pine Gallery. Gala planning is coming along nicely. The following sponsorships have been received: Quintiles
-$1,000, Bob Blommer -$1,000, NC State Port Authority -$2,500. Request pending to PPD, GE, Corning, Merrill Lynch, Gahagan & Associates, NC BioTech, and Coastal Carolina Tomorrow. A
field trip has been arranged for staff, volunteers and members to the North Carolina Museum of Natural History on December 3, 2007. The Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon is scheduled for
December 10, 2007. There being no further business Dean Gattone entertained a motion to adjourn. Motion made by Stuart Ball and seconded by John Haley. The next board meeting will be
on Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at 4:00 PM in the Williston Auditorium at the Cape Fear Museum.
