Surprise at number of people who did not stay for second half of meeting. nteract from time-to-time. Good if focusing on one
specific project. Suggest reinstating procedure where board chairs attend as ex-officio. Regarding substance, it was a pretty good meeting. As a newcomer, enjoyed meeting the other board
members. Prefer remaining with Saturday. Collection Report: Lowell Soucie Committee did not meet in December. Next scheduled meeting is in January. MINUTES MUSEUM ADVISORY BOARD MEETING

2 County Advocacy o Capital Budget Request Submission is for land acquisition only. o Education Coordinator Choice
is to have this position fully funded by the County. If this does not happen by 2010, we may be forced to lay off employees in the Education Department of the Museum. Questions were
raised regarding salary. State Advocacy Our Grassroots Sciences Museums funding has been approved for the next fiscal year. The Grassroots Science Museums Collaborative Board will be
meeting in January to define strategy. A good step now would be to thank our State Representatives and Senator for their continued support with personal endorsement of the impact of
this grant on science education. City Advocacy Outside Cultural Groups Can apply for grants and it was suggested this could be a good source for artifact conservation, learning center
expansion, etc. These funds, if granted, would enhance the Museum mission. Nancy Pritchett suggested checking with Cam Griffin regarding an interagency agreement with the city. Suggested
board members could send letters to our officials on the state, county and city levels advocating for the museum. John Haley and Stuart Ball will be designated advocates for the county.
Dean Gattone and Ann Griffith will advocate on the state level. There will be a status report on the H.G. Wright in January.
Received the North Carolina Humanities grant. These funds will be targeted to support the Community Conversations. Associates Report: Janine Powell The end-of-year appeals letter campaign
has garnered $4,300 to date. The Gala invitations are in and ready to be addressed. The Winter Jazz Program continues to be successful. Received so far $345 in Museum memberships, $215
in admission fees and approximately $200 Museum store revenue. Website is being updated. The annual volunteer luncheon was held on December 10 and was a success. Fifteen year pins were
presented as well as 1,000 volunteer hours awards. There are currently 426 museum members. There being no further business Nancy Pritchett entertained a motion to adjourn. The motion
was seconded by Lowell Soucie. The meeting adjourned at 4:50 PM. The next board meeting will be on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at 4:00 PM in the Williston Auditorium at the Cape Fear
Museum.
