Bill Terrell, CFM Advisory Board Chair, called the meeting to order at 4:03 PM. Approval of Minutes: Dean Gattone There were no corrections to the minutes. Jack Mills moved approval of the March 21, 2007 minutes; Don Fishero seconded the motion; minutes were approved without opposition. Consideration of Absences: Dean Gattone The following were excused from the meeting: Virginia Chiarello, Grace Mosley-Byrd, John Haley. Associates Report: Rachel Pace The CFMA, Inc. mission statement has been revised. Self-evaluations were conducted by the board members. A meeting of the CFM Advisory Board and the CFMA, Inc. Gala committee will be held on May 7, 2007 at 4:00 PM to discuss the timing of the 2008 Gala and Ocean Exhibit. A leadership breakfast for Gala sponsors will be held on May 9, 2007. Bob Zeller will be the special guest. MINUTES CFM Advisory Board Meeting April 18, 2007 2 􀀦􀁋􀁄􀁌􀁕􀁐􀁄􀁑􀂶􀁖􀀃􀀵􀁈􀁓􀁒􀁕􀁗􀀝􀀃􀀃􀀥􀁌􀁏􀁏􀀃􀀷􀁈􀁕􀁕􀁈􀁏􀁏 Bill Terrell presented the State of The Museum to the New Hanover County Commissions at their meeting on Monday, April 16, 2007. Committee members were reminded to consider their needs list and bring it to the May meeting. CFMAB members were reminded to speak to and encourage citizens to submit nominations for the CFM Advisory Board. Collections Report: Linda Chapman The committee recommended approval to deaccess items presented to the CFMAB. The motion passed. Ft. Fisher has requested an extension on the diorama. Jack Mills moved to confirm the approval. A list of items recommended for conservation was distributed. The list included the expected cost of conservation. Facilities: Jack Mills The Education Department wants to use the courtyard area for summer camps. A framed box will be constructed and filled with soil to be used for fossil digs during camp. There is no undated news on the time of removal of the H.G. Wright artifact. Ruth has sent another letter to the homeowners on 8th Street regarding the possibility of moving their home. Strategic Planning: Don Fishero John and Don have been working on the upcoming board nominations list. Don Fishero has resigned his position with the Board. Directors Update: Ruth Haas Ruth gave an update on the Grassroots Sciences legislation which included an information sheet. Reported on visitation and revenue over the last year. A handout was distributed. Distributed information on exhibit planning. The next regular board meeting will be on Wednesday, May 17, 2007 at 4:00 PM in the Williston Auditorium of the Cape Fear Museum. The meeting was moved to adjourn at 5:07 PM by Jack Mills and seconded by Don Fishero.
