Museum Advisory Board held its regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, May 16, 2007 in the Williston Auditorium at the Cape Fear Museum. Bill Terrell, CFM Advisory Board Chair, called
the meeting to order at 4:03 PM. Approval of Minutes: Dean Gattone Two corrections were noted in the April minutes. The Associates Report should read the mission statement is being
revised and board evaluations are ongoing. Don Fishero moved approval of the corrected April 18, 2007 minutes; Linda Chapman seconded the motion; minutes were approved without opposition.
Consideration of Absences: Dean Gattone The following were excused from the meeting: Dean Gattone, Jack Mills, Chris Abrons. Associates Report: Rachel Pace The May 7, 2007 leadership
breakfast went very well. A contract with New Hanover County on admission fees has been signed and approved. Susan Taylor Block is currently developing another book. The Associates Annual
Meeting will be held on June 18,2007 at 5:30 PM in the Williston Auditorium. All are invited to attend. Board members
were urged to complete the self-evaluation forms and return for review at the June 2007 board meeting. Bill reminded CFMAB members to encourage new board applications. There is no status
change in Parks Bond Proposal. There has been no new contact with our neighbor regarding moving the house. MINUTES CFM Advisory Board Meeting May 16, 2007
2 Update on H.G. Wright paddle wheel issue. o Bill suggested that Star-News editorial staff be invited to the Museum for a tour. o
process to move the H.G. Wright. o Phone calls were received from Mr. Bellamy, and the Star-News, before an editorial was written on the issue of moving the paddle wheel. o Gene Merritt
sent a letter to Governor Easley to have the move stopped. His goal is to keep the H.G. Wright in Wilmington. Following the letter to Governor Easley, the NC Department of Cultural Resources
stopped the move. o Ruth reviewed notes from the meeting with all concerned parties. o Bruce Bowman will develop a proposal to keep it on CFM property o
plete. Strategic Planning: Don Fishero Slate of Officers for 2007/2008 was presented.

� Directors Update: Ruth Haas Distributed Board self-evaluation forms to board members. All DENR budgets
were cut, which affects our Grassroots Sciences Museums grant funds. The House recommendations are the DENR recommendations and call for Cape Fear Museum to receive $131,000 next year
--$30,000 less than last year. The budget is currently in the Senate. Distributed information the Civil War Trails. New carpet has been completed in the lower front gallery. Updated
the Board on the new Ocean exhibit to open in February 2008. Financial support is being solicited from sources other than just Time Warner Cable. Don Fishero suggested contacting Corning
for support. New Business Nancy Buckingham gave the board an overview of the website shopformuseums.com.
