Bill Terrell, CFM Advisory Board Chair, called the meeting to order at 4:04 PM. Approval of Minutes: Dean Gattone One correction was noted in the 􀀰􀁄􀁜􀀃􀁐􀁌􀁑􀁘􀁗􀁈􀁖􀀑􀀃􀀃􀀬􀁑􀀃􀁗􀁋􀁈􀀃􀀦􀁋􀁄􀁌􀁕􀁐􀁄􀁑􀂶􀁖􀀃􀀵􀁈􀁓􀁒􀁕􀁗􀀃􀁘􀁑􀁇􀁈􀁕􀀃􀁗􀁋􀁈􀀃Update on H.G. Wright, Dr. Bellamy was incorrectly referenced as Mr. Bellamy. Dean Gattone moved approval of the corrected May 16, 2007 minutes; Nancy Pritchett seconded the motion; minutes were approved without opposition. Consideration of Absences: Dean Gattone The following absences were excused: Virginia Chiarello, Lowell Soucie, Ann Griffith. Associates Report: Rachel Pace New slate of officers and board members are: Chris Reed, President, Tom Cunningham, Vice President, Lonnie Williams, Jr. Secretary, Chris Bunch, Treasurer. Robert Bloomer, Marsha Bonner, Ginger Fisk, Gail Smith, Peter Wells, Brian York, and Ronna Zimmer, board members. The new CFMA, Inc. mission statement was read. Cape Fear Museum Associates, Incorporated exists to ensure the success of Cape Fear Museum through fundraising, programs, membership, and community awareness. Adopted May 21, 2007 Gifts this year are establishing the $100,000 endowment and $34,000 earned through fund raisers. Volunteer hours equaled $330,000 based on $16 per hour. Net yearly income of $30,000 was given to the Museum for various programs. The CFMA, Inc. annual meeting was held on Monday, June 18, 2007. MINUTES CFM Advisory Board Meeting June 20, 2007 2 􀀦􀁋􀁄􀁌􀁕􀁐􀁄􀁑􀂶􀁖􀀃􀀵􀁈􀁓􀁒􀁕􀁗􀀝􀀃􀀃􀀥􀁌􀁏􀁏􀀃􀀷􀁈􀁕􀁕􀁈􀁏􀁏 The board self-evaluation compilation was reviewed. There were 7 board responses submitted. The meeting time 􀂱 3rd Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. will be added to the July board meeting to affirm the meeting time or to consent to an alternate time. Departing board members 􀂱 Chris Abrons, Don Fishero, Grace Mosely-Byrd, and Virginia Chiarello 􀂱 were recognized and presented a certificate of appreciation. The board thanked Rachel Pace for her two years of serving as President of Cape Fear Museum Associates, Inc. She was recognized for faithful service and for promoting better communications among key Museum stakeholders. Strategic Planning: Don Fishero Slate of Officers for 2007/2008 was presented. The following have agreed to serve. Don moved to approve the slate. Don thanked the Commissioners for the appointments. Directors Update: Ruth Haas Grassroots Science Fund status was reported. It is currently in conference committee to resolve differences between House and Senate versions. 􀀸􀁓􀁇􀁄􀁗􀁈􀀃􀁒􀁑􀀃􀁄􀁓􀁓􀁕􀁒􀁙􀁈􀁇􀀃􀀩􀀼􀂶􀀓 􀀛􀀃􀀰􀁘􀁖􀁈􀁘􀁐􀀃􀁅􀁘􀁇􀁊􀁈􀁗􀀑􀀃􀀃􀀇􀀔􀀓􀀓􀀏􀀓􀀓􀀓􀀃􀁚􀁄􀁖􀀃􀁆􀁘􀁗􀀃􀁉􀁕􀁒􀁐􀀃􀁗􀁋􀁈􀀃􀀇􀀔􀀘􀀓􀀏􀀓􀀓􀀓􀀃Museum Exhibit Design Master Plan budget. The Swain family donation of $100,000 is still in escrow. The request to fund the Education 􀀦􀁒􀁒􀁕􀁇􀁌􀁑􀁄􀁗􀁒􀁕􀂶􀁖 position in the County budget was not approved; Grassroots Science funds will fund for one more year. The request for funding will be resubmitted next year. Nancy Buckingham has resigned her position as of August 2, 2007. Funding packages are being compiled to solicit Museum sponsorship for the OCEAN exhibit. The Museum will participate in the Castle Street Merchants Fair planned for June 30. Update on 2007 summer camps. Playing Together Games and the NOAA exhibits exhibits are now open to the public. Action Items: Bill Terrell Bill called everyone􀂶􀁖 attention to the three action items as noted on the agenda: o Begin deliberate process to track attendance with goal of increasing attendance o Develop Reaccreditation Timeline /Schedule o Develop plan for Parks Bond, property acquisition, and expansion The next regular board meeting will be on Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at 4:00 PM in the Williston Auditorium of the Cape Fear Museum.
