ASSEMBLY
The 2009 New Hanover County Board of Equalization and Review met on Thursday,
April 30, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. in the Lucie F. Harrell Conference Room of the New Hanover
County Government Center, 230 Government Center Drive, Wilmington, North Carolina.
The purpose of the meeting was to open the 2009 Board of Equalization and Review.
Members present were: Chairman Earl M. Worsley, Jr., Vice - Chairman Joseph Szaloky,
William J. O'Shea, Joanne S. Parker departed at 2:40 p.m., Paul E. D'Angelo, Nancy H.
Pritchett (Alternate), and Donald E. Harris (Alternate) arrived at 2 p.m.
Staff members present were: Tax Administrator Roger Kelley, Assistant Tax
Administrator Jeff Niebauer, Appraisal Supervisor Henry J. Montgomery, Revaluation
Coordinator Pete Richardson, Appraiser Jim Hardin, Appraiser Chuck Davis, Appraiser
Jason Radtke, Appraiser Scott Saunders, Appraiser Jim Thornton, Administrative Support
Coordinator Susan Wilson- Sykes, Administrative Support Technician Macio Carlton, and
Administrative Support Technician Joann Davenport.
North Carolina Department of Revenue's Property Tax Division staff members present
were: Real Property Supervisor Michael Brown, and Real Property Valuation Specialist
Scott Casey.
Chairman Earl M. Worsley, Jr. called the meeting to order.
Agenda
- Introductions were made by each of the Board members and staff present.
- Chairman Worsley, Vice - Chairman Szaloky, and members O'Shea, Parker, D'Angelo,
and Pritchett were sworn in for Oath of Office by Susan Wilson -Sykes
- North Carolina Department of Revenue's Property Tax Division Director Brown
discussed the North Carolina Department of Revenue "Member's Handbook for
Boards of Equalization and Review."
- Tax Administrator Roger Kelley discussed with the Board about meetings,
schedules, and appeals. The Board agreed to group time meetings for appeals.
- The Board agreed the next meeting will be on May 28 2009 from 1p.m. to 3p.m
and appeals filed by property owners will be heard.
- Board Member Harris was sworn in for Oath of Office by Teresa P. Elmore.
- Oaths of Office are on file in the office of the Clerk to the Board of Commissioners.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, Chairman Worsley recessed the 2009 Board of
Equalization and Review at 3:05 p.m.
