The meeting was called to order by Chairman Dean Gattone at 4:04 PM. Approval of Minutes: Sandra Sheridan A motion to accept the June 16, 2010 minutes as presented by Sandra Sheridan, Secretary, was made by Jack Bragg and seconded by Jack Mills. Motion passed without opposition. Consideration of Absences: Sandra Sheridan Dawn McKernan and Beth Dawson were excused as absent. Chairman’s Report: Dean Gattone Attended the Mega Business Expo in support of the Museum. Attended the Cape Fear 101 NC Hurricanes. Very good program. Cape Fear Museum Associates, Inc.: Tom Cunningham No report. This board will meet next week. Collections Committee: John Haley The committee has recommended approval of an extension for artifacts on loan to the New Hanover Regional Hospital for exhibit purposes. Approval passed without opposition. Marketing Committee: Dean Gattone Jacob Rudolph, public relations specialists for the Museum, presented a PowerPoint covering new approaches in marketing the Museum for fiscal year 2011. Date for replacement has not been set. A meeting will be held with Jerome Fennell, Property Management Director, on September 28, 2010 to determine further course of action. Roof – ongoing project. Education Committee: Jack Mills Attended the Mega Business Expo. The Business Partnership Program was launched at the Mega Business Expo. An anonymous donor wishes to sponsor funds to continue the Blue Star Program for an indefinite period of time. A motion to accept was made by Jack Mills and seconded by Linda Chapman. In discussions, Jack Bragg made a motion to amend the original motion to reflect if at any time the donor could no longer fund, the board would entertain considerations to support the program. Motion to amend was seconded by Allen Trask. The amendment and motion passed without opposition. Museum Update: Ruth Haas Visitation for August 2010 was down 19% from same time last year and and total revenue for period was down 37%. Total business sponsorship for FY2011 has reached $36,500.00. Total grant funds received to date is $27,200. Business Partnership program has generated $125.00. Sixteen businesses have committed to the SiFest program scheduled for October 9, 2010. Community engagement includes Leadership Wilmington; Greater Wilmington Chamber of Commerce Education Committee; and collaboration endeavors to fund the “Down Home Carolina” exhibit. There being no further business, Dean Gattone adjourned the meeting at 5:04 PM. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at 4:00 PM in the Williston Auditorium, Cape Fear Museum.
