In the Matter of Closing
A Portion of Hickory Street
ORDER
It appearing to the Board of County Commissioners of New
Hanover County that a Resolution of Intent to close a portion of
Hickory Street was adopted by the County Commissioners on the 5th
day of March, 1990 and it further appearing that said resolution
called for a hearing to be held on the 2nd day of April, 1990, at
which time the County Commissioners would hear complaints and
comments of interested persons, and it further appearlng that
notice of said hearing was published in the Wilmington Star News

Newspaper in accordance with the Road Closing Ordinance of New
Hanover County ,and after conducting such hearing the County
Commissioners are of the opinion that a portion of Hickory Street
in the County of New Hanover should be closed and are satisfied
that the closing of same is not contrary to the public interest,
and that no individual owning property in the vicinity of the
roads will be deprived of reasonable means of ingress and egress
to his property by such closing, the legal description of said
road being as follows:
Being a portion of a 50 foot right-of-way commencing
700 feet south of the Holly Shelter/Castle Hayne Road
intersection extending east 330 feet to its intersection
with Blossom Street with 30 feet of said portion (15 feet on
each side of road centerline) to remain open (see attached,
map) .

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED AND DECREED that the above
described road be and the same is hereby closed. It is further
ORDERED that a copy of this order be filed in the Office of the

IN THE MATTER OF ASSIGNING
STREET HOUSE NUMBERS
ORDER
It appearing to the Board of County Commissioners of New
Hanover County that consideration has been given to the
assignment of house, numbers on Sunrise Lane, numerical range
1500-1699 and Indian Cove Avenue, numerical range 1600-1799
located in Federal Point Township.
WHEREAS, ready and accurate identification of developed
property is important for the delivery of general County
services ,for the operation of commercial enterprises, for the
response of emergency. and public safety vehicles, and for the
convenience of the general publici and
WHEREAS, a comprehensive and systematic property numbering
system is an efficient means of identifying property within the
CountYi and
WHEREAS, such a system will promote the health, safety, and
welfare of the citizens of New Hanover County.
THEREFORE, it further appearing that a public hearing was
held on the 2nd day of April, 1990, at which time all persons
were heard on the question of whether or not assigning house
numbers would be in the public interest, and it further appearing
that notice of said hearing was prominently posted in at least
two (2) locations along said street, that notice of the time,
place and subject matter of the hearing was prominently posted at
the County Courthouse, and published in a newspaper of general
circulation in the County.
NOW, THEREFORE, it is ordained and decreed that the above
House Number Assignment be made.
It is further ordered that a copy of this ordinance be
transmitted to the postmaster having jurisdiction over the road,
to the Board of Transportation, Sheriff's 911 dispatcher and to
any city within five miles of said road in accordance with N.C.
General Statutes 153A-240.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNTY OF
NEW HANOVER, NORTH CAROLINA AMENDING THE
ZONING ORDINANCE OF
NEW HANOVER COUNTY ADOPTED
OCTOBER 6, 1969
THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF NEW HANOVER COUNTY DOTH ORDAIN:
Section 1. That the Zoning Ordinance of the County of New
Hanover adopted October 6, 1969, as amended be and the same is
hereby amended as follows:
1. Under 67-2 (3), delete "that will disturb one acre or
more."
2. Under 67-3(B), revise to read, "Hardwood trees at least
8 inches DBH, all conifer trees of at least 12 inches
DBH, and all dogwoods and American hollies larger than
4 inches DBH ...
3. Under 67-3(B) 3, add the following sentence, "the
undisturbed area shall be protected during construction
by a suitable fence, such as a wooden slat snow fence
or wire fence."
4. Renumber 67-3(B)4 to 67-3(B)5 and add a new number 4 to
read as follows: If a protected tree is destroyed,
substantially damaged or dies within three years after
completion of construction, then replacement trees
shall be planted on the site with a total diameter
equal to twice the diameter of the protected tree. For
instance, if a 16 inch diameter tree is cut down, eight
4" trees will be replanted."
5. Under 67-5(2) (A), Revise as follows: "A landscaped
strip ten (10) feet in width ...", and add the
following sentence: "This landscaping shall consist
of, at a minimum, one evergreen or deciduous tree every
eighteen (18) to twenty-seven (27) feet. If a buffer
strip is required in accordance with Section 67-4, then
the ten foot width may be included as part of the
buffer strip."
6. Under 67-5(2)(B) modify the horizontal dimension of
planting islands to "twelve (12) feet."
7 Under 67-8(4)(C) revise as follows: "Approximate
locations and species of all harwood trees at least 8
inches DBH, all conifer trees at least 12 inches DBH,
and all dogwoods and American hollies at least 4 inches
DBH. The canopy drip line of these trees shall be
delineated."
8. Under 67-8(4)(H) specify that locations of trees be for
those larger than "8 inches DBH".

Any ordinance or part of any ordinance in
conflict with this ordinance, to the extent of such conflict is
hereby repealed.
Section 3.
This ordinance is adopted in the interest of
public health, safety, morals, and general welfare of the
inhabitants of the County of New Hanover, North Carolina, and
shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption.
