2007-05-17 Agenda Review NEW HANOVER COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERSBOOK 31 AGENDA REVIEW MEETING, MAY 17, 2007 PAGE 100 ASSEMBLY The New Hanover County Board of Commissioners met for Agenda Review on Thursday, May 17, 2007, at 4:07 p.m. in Conference Room 601 at the New Hanover County Government Center, 230 Government Center Drive, Wilmington, North Carolina. Members present were: Chairman William A. Caster; Vice-Chairman Robert G. Greer; Commissioner William A. Kopp, Jr.; Commissioner Nancy H. Pritchett; County Manager Bruce T. Shell; County Attorney Wanda M. Copley and Clerk to the Board Sheila L. Schult. Commissioner Ted Davis, Jr. was absent. Chairman Caster called the meeting to order and announced that the purpose of the meeting is to review and discuss the Board?s May 21, 2007 Regular Session meeting agenda and Water and Sewer District meeting agenda. The Board discussed Regular Agenda Item 3 ? Consideration of National Beach Safety Week Proclamation. Commissioner Pritchett volunteered to read the proclamation. The Board discussed Regular Agenda Item 4 ? Consideration of Foster Care Awareness Month Proclamation. Chairman Caster volunteered to read the proclamation. The Board discussed Regular Agenda Item 6 ? Public Hearing to Receive Public Comments on Documents for the Consolidation of Water and Sewer Utilities with the City of Wilmington. Chairman Caster reported that the during the Wilmington City Council?s meeting on May 15, 2007 they voted to approve moving ahead with consolidation with two changes to the Articles of Incorporation. Currently staff is working with the City on the draft Articles of Incorporation for the Board?s consideration at the meeting on Monday. The Board discussed Regular Agenda Item 8 - Consideration of Request for Funding for Dredging of Carolina Beach Inlet. The Board reviewed the applications submitted for Regular Agenda Item 11 ? Committee Appointments. The Board discussed Water and Sewer District Agenda Item 3 ? Consideration of Design, Permitting, Easement Acquisition and Easement Acquisition Services Work for Water System Improvements to Gordon Road and North Kerr Avenue and Adoption of Budget Ordinance Amendment #2007-94. County Engineer Greg Thompson presented an overview of the project and answered questions from the Board. The Board discussed Water and Sewer District Agenda Item 4 - Consideration of Sixty Foot Wide Access Easement Known as Lendire Road and Existing Forty Foot Drainage Easement for Water and Sewer Purposes. County Engineer Greg Thompson presented a brief overview of the request. The Board discussed Water and Sewer District Agenda Item 5 - Consideration of Purchase of Property Located at 6337 Oleander Drive and Adoption of Budget Ordinance Amendment #07-238. County Engineer Greg Thompson presented a brief overview of the request and answered questions from the Board.
