RE: Conveyance to City of Wilmington County Interest in Ninth street Lot Tax Parcel # 6001-05410-005-002000 New Hanover County and City of Wilmington on March 7, 1989, at a tax foreclosure sale, became last and highest bidders for, a lot on Ninth Street described as being 44 feet by 70 feet and being a part of Lots 2 and 3 of Block 81 according to the map of the City of Wilmington. The purchase price was $3,210.27 with the City owning 89.3% undivided interest ($2,866.77) and County owning 10.7% undivided interest ($343.50). City of Wilmington requested County convey its interest to City of Wilmington for use by City in the City's $l-per-lot Program and the City requested the conveyance immediately as the potential purchasers need to secure a favorable interest rate for the construction of a house on this lot. With your consent the deed to the City was executed by Chairman Retchin on September 11, 1989 and you are now requested to ratify this action and cause the minutes to reflect your action. RWP/kmm cc: Acting County Manager J^; P.O. BOX 1810 28402 LEGAL DEPARTMENT (919) 341-7820 September 8, Mr. Robert W. Pope County Attorney New Hanover County 320 Chestnut Street 'Wilmington, NC 28401 Dear Bob: This will follow up our telephone conversation of September 7, 1989 concerning the possible release of the County's interest in certain property acquired by the City and County through a tax foreclosure proceeding. As I mentioned, the City would like to obtain title to this property for use in the City's $l-per-lot Program which makes property available to persons of low and moderate incomes for the construction of owner-occupied residences. For your information, I am enclosing a copy of the Commissioner's deed that made the conveyance of this property to New Hanover County and the City of Wilmington. I am also en- closing the original of a quitclaim deed that would effect the conveyance. I have discussed this conveyance with the potential pur- chasers of this property. They are concerned about being able to secure an interest rate for the construction of a house on this property and would like to obtain the conveyance of the property as soon as possible. If you do have an opportunity to obtain approval for this conveyance prior to September 18, 1989, such assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your help with this matter. If you have any questions, please let me know. Sincerely yours, ..,,-- I~ Thomas C. Pollard City Attorney TCP/dbl Attachments ~ Prepared by: Thomas C.
