Barbara Rowe, CFM Curator Terri Hudgins, CFM Registrar Neal Lewis, NHC Parks Director Candy Ashton, Associate Professor, Parks and Recreation, UNCW The Cape Fear Museum Advisory Board held its regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 in the Williston Auditorium at the Cape Fear Museum. Don Fishero, CFM Advisory Board Chair called the meeting to order at 4:03 PM. Approval of Minutes: Minutes of February 15, 2006 were reviewed and approved. A motion was made by Donald Patience and seconded by John Haley. Motion passed. Consideration of Absences: Don Fishero Bill Terrell was excused. Collections Committee Report: John Haley John Haley reviewed the committee report. He noted Terri Hudgins visit with the Cameron Art Museum to review installation of artifacts loaned by CFM. Terri reported that the installations had been properly installed and Cape Fear Museum was appropriately recognized. Compact storage contractors have indicated that it would not be cost effective to install new units in the basement. Space is already being used to the maximum. John moved to approve the report including deaccession of the attached objects. list. Dean Gattone seconded. Motion passed. MINUTES CFM Advisory Board Meeting March 15, 2006 CFM Advisory Board Meeting Minutes March 15, 2006 Page 2 Green Space Bond Issue Review: Neal Lewis, Candy Ashton Neal Lewis, Director of NHC Parks Department, and Candy Ashton, Associate Professor of Parks and Recreation, UNCW and spokesperson for the Chamber of Commerce People for Parks, presented a thorough overview of the bond issue. CFM Inc. Associates Report: Rachel Pace No report Directors Report: Ruth Haas NHC Commissioners approved the Museum Master Plan. Ruth and Nancy Buckingham expressed their appreciation to those board members who attended the Commissioners meeting. Neal Lewis expressed appreciation to the Museum for its support of the Greater Wilmington Sports Hall of Fame. Terri Hudgins will represent the Museum at the AAM annual meeting in Boston April 27-May 1, 2006. Terri applied for and received a $500 scholarship from AAM-SERA, an interest group for museum registrars, which pays most of her expenses. She will stay with relatives in Boston. Ruth also shared a letter from the Cameron Art Museum inviting board members and staff to visit the installation of Cape Fear Museum objects. The board asked Ruth to follow-up on this invitation to find an appropriate date. With no further business, Don Fishero adjourned the meeting at 5:15 PM. The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at 4:00 p.m. in the Williston Auditorium, Cape Fear Museum.
