Specialist Nancy Buckingham, CFM Development Coordinator Jack Mills, CFMA Associates, Inc. Barbara Rowe, CFM Curator The Cape Fear Museum Advisory Board held its regular monthly meeting
on Wednesday, May 17, 2006 in the Williston Auditorium at the Cape Fear Museum. Don Fishero, CFM Advisory Board Chair called the meeting to order at 4:05 PM. Approval of Minutes: Minutes
of April 19, 2006 were reviewed and approved. A motion was made by Donald Patience and passed. Consideration of Absences: Don Patience Linda Chapman and Virginia Chiarello were absent.
Associates Report: Rachel Pace Associates held their monthly Board Meeting on May 15, 2006. The The Permanent Endowment Fund with a beginning amount of $100,000 is almost complete. .
Susan Taylor Block will be at the Museum on Thursday, June 15, 2006 for a reception and book signing for her new book, Scenes of America: Cape Fear. This book contains photos from the
Museum’s collections that were used in her three previously published books. The Museum will receive 2/3rd of the royalties and the author 1/3rd. New Associate board members are Chris
Reid, Barbara Lewis, Jennifer France, and Tom Cunnigham The annual Membership Meeting will be held on June 19, 2006 at 5:30 PM at the Cape Fear Museum. Jack Mills and Ann Hutteman were

2 CFM Advisory Board Meeting Minutes, May 17, 2006 Collections Committee Report: John Haley The committee recommended that objects requested by the Cameron Art Museum for an exhibit,
May through September 2006, be approved for loan, except for item 1999.068.001, which is a computer that is currently on exhibit at Cape Fear Museum. Motion made by John Haley and passed.
Items for deacession were presented and all were approved except aerial photos items 1988.54.28-30, .33, .34, .36-39, .41-46, .48, .50, .51, .53, .55, and .60 which will be transferred
to the Demo Collection. Motion made by John Haley and passed. Facilities Report – Bill Terrell Update on joint City and County Bond passage and future planning. County and State will
meet on June 6, 2006 to review bond funds disposition. Nancy Pritchett made point that all is actually on hold regarding the bond funds distribution until lawsuit is settled. CFM plans
to continue working to acquire land required for expansion. Once land is confirmed, then plans will be made regarding how the land will be developed, consistent with the way the Bond
was presented. Everyone should expect that this phase cannot be accomplished with only the $500,000 from the bond; other fund raising will be necessary to at least match the bond. Nominating

July. Directors Report: Ruth Haas Update on need to resurface and improve the courtyard area so it can be used as a program/picnic area. Learning Center artwork is progressing nicely
both outside and inside. Board members were encouraged to stop by and take a look. CFM is hoping to get loan of the exhibit of Civil War photographs from the Chrysler Museum in the spring
of 2007. The New Hanover County Commissioners approved the increase in admissions revenue. Flavor of the Past will be held this year on August 26, 2006. Proceeds from last year’s Flavor
of the Past will go to fund the new part-time weekend Museum Educator position. This position will be used to develop education programs. New Business: Don Fishero Don Fishero shared
a discussion he had with the Chairman of the Cameron Board of Trustees during which assistance was sought to support Cameron’s request for a County allocation to support the Endowment
Campaign. After some discussion, it was the feeling by the Board that they were to function as advisors for Cape Fear Museum. It would not be appropriate to act in any official way to
make recommendations to the Commissioners regarding Cameron Museum budget requests. With no further business, Don Fishero adjourned the meeting at 4:57 PM. The next meeting will be held
on Wednesday, June 21, 2006 at 4:00 p.m. in the Williston Auditorium, Cape Fear Museum.
