� Barbara Rowe, Curator The Cape Fear Museum Advisory Board held its regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at 4:00 PM in the
North Gallery, with Mr. Don Fishero, Chairman, presiding. The meeting reached a quorum. Approval of Minutes: Minutes from the April 20, 2005 meeting were reviewed and approved. A motion
was made by Bill Terrell and second by Nancy Pritchett. Motion passed. Consideration of Absences: Richard Trask and Virginia Chiarello were excused.
Don and Ruth gave the annual state of the Museum report at the County Commissioners meeting on May 15, 2005. Proclamation of International Museum Day was affirmed at the
County Commissioners Meeting on May 15, 2005. Jack Mills, Don Fishero and Ruth Haas attended the meeting. Nancy Pritchett was recognized by the Board for her efforts on behalf of the
Museum in obtaining the proclamation. Recruitment procedures are underway to fill the Registrar position. Associates Report: Jack Mills Slate of officers for FY06 will be presented at
the meeting on Monday, May 23, 2005. Final budget for FY06 should be complete by Friday, May 20, 2005. Speakers Bureau continues to be very busy. Minutes Advisory Board Meeting April

CFM Advisory Board Minutes Page 2 May 18, 2005 Collections Committee: Scott Chase Finalized Collections Policy revisions. Motion by Scott Chase and second by Scott Brooks. Motion passed.
A copy of the revision is attached. Three collections to be deaccessed. Some items from these collections were saved for use in Museum educational programs. Discussion on procedure for
deaccessions receiving final approval from County Commissions. Deaccessions motion by Scott Chase and second by Chris Abrons. Motion passed. Long Range Planning Committee: Ann Griffith
Ann gave a final review of the proposed changes to the Advisory Board by-laws. The changes have been presented to and accepted by the NHC Commissioners. Motion to accept and incorporate
the changes was made by John Haley and second by Scott Chase. Motion passed. A copy of the revision is attached. Marketing Committee: Ruth Haas Update on the collaborative effort of
all area attractions. All attractions were willing to participate in a tool to market each other. other. One discount marketing piece will be used showing all attraction. It is to be
a simple tool, which will go live Memorial Day weekend and run through Labor Day weekend. Utilization of the marketing piece will be tracked by each attraction. Sharing cost of production
of the piece is still under consideration. The marketing discount piece will be available on the web also. Museum Update: Ruth Haas May 18, 2005 is International Museum Day. The Museum
will offer free admission to all visitors that day. Update on the new historian, Janet Davidson, coming on board in July. Currently interviewing candidates for the registrar position.
Barbara Branch resigned as Development Coordinator effective May 20, 2005. Update on the Williston Auditorium renovation. Update on the Living Small exhibit, which will be housed in
the North Gallery. Update on Oceans Alive exhibit. Visitation is continuing to improve. Programs have been instrumental in increasing attendance and revenue. Distributed annual performance
review. Board members are to complete and send to Pat Melvin no later than June 30, 2005. New Business: Don Fishero Tanky Meier presented items to collections from the New China Restaurant,
one of the oldest restaurants in Wilmington, which recently closed. The meeting adjourned at 5:04 PM. The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, 15, 2005 at 4:00 p.m. in the Williston
Auditorium, Cape Fear Museum.
