NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that we the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners do recognize the role and accomplishments of Downtown Area Revitalization Effort (DARE), Incorporated in improving Wilmington's Central Business District by stab1i1izing the tax base, increasing employment, and eliminating blight through renovation, and do also support DARE'S effort to secure a developer for a Hotel-Convention Center located on the Riverfront, and do also commit to assist in this project to the extent possible and feasible. WHEREAS, abandoned ships, vessels, structures and submersible material, ideal for such reefs, is offered and made available to various local governments and other entities on the condition that title immediately pass from donor to donee; and WHEREAS, New Hanover County has received numerous such offers which, if accepted, would have contributed greatly to the artificial reef construction off the coast of Southeastern North Carolina; and WHEREAS, New Hanover County is not financially able to assume the responsibi1i ty of and therefore has lost many items that could have reefs; equipped nor such donations become fishing NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the State of North Carolina, by and through its Department of Natural Resources and Communi ty Development, is encouraged to formulate a policy and program for the receipt and disposition of ships, vessels, structures and submersible material offered to the State of North Carolina as part of its artificial fishing reef projects. 1. . 21st day of January, 1985. RESOLUTION NO. 85-257 -, AMENDMENT TO RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A GOVERNMENTAL CONSOLIDATION STUDY COMMISSION WHEREAS, the governing bodies of New Hanover County, Wilmington, Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, and Wrightsville Beach adopted a resolution establishing a Governmental Consolidation Study Commission on the respective dates of June 25, 1984; June 25, 1984; July 10, 1984; June 26, 1984; and June 28, 1984; and WHEREAS, the governing bodies desire to amend the number of members serving on said Commission; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR NEW HANOVER COUNTY, THE WILMINGTON CITY COUNCIL, THE CAROLINA BEACH TOWN COUNCIL, THE KURE BEACH BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, AND THE WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH BOARD OF ALDE~~EN THAT: The first two sentences of Paragraph 3 are hereby amended as follows: The Commission shall consist of twenty-nine (29) members who shall serve until the work of the Commission is completed. '. ~ ~! future travel demand; ~ NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County ,.. Commissioners of New Hanover County: 1. That the Board of County Commissioners does hereby endorse the report entitled "Thoroughfare System for the College Acres Neighborhood" a~ the official policy of the Board regarding thoroughfares in this area of New Hanover County. 2. That the Board of County Commissioners further directs regulatory boards, commissions and agencies of the County to recognize this report as the County's policy regarding thoroughfares in this area of the County. 3. That copies of the report enti t1ed "Thoroughfare System for the College Acres Neighborhood" be distributed to the appropriate regulatory boards, commissions and agencies of the County and to the City of Wilmington and the North Carolina Department of Transportation. 4.
