'4'9' <~ . ...., '.. _J;- ~...'--..........i--"""",~ , ,- :' ~.T:'._.'- '"0 ~;: .'~ ;::: r RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF NEW HANOVER COUNTY - " WHEREAS G.S. ~105-381 states that a taxpayer can assert a defense to the payment of a tax when said tax was paid as a result of a clerical error; and WHEREAS, on September 26, 1984, a sum of $1,068.24, ,....<1, representing 1984 taxes on Lot 19 of Forest by the Sea ," subdivision, was paid to the New Hanover County Tax Office by the office of Robert Calder, Jr., through a cler ical error, insofar as the property was subject to the jurisdiction of the Bankruptcy Court; and WHEREAS the office of Robert Calder, Jr., has tendered the original receipt for said payment, thereby allowing New Hanover County to pursue collection of the tax through Bankruptcy Court or other available legal proceedings; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the office of Robert Calder, Jr., has asserted a valid defense to the payment of the sum of $1,068.24, and is entitled to return of same; provided that this return of payment shall in no way be construed to release New Hanover County's claim for 1984 taxes on the ~/ (5/ ~rf~A~~t~ _ Chairman, Board of Commissioners of New Hanover County of , 1985. . , Ntw ){anoutr Qlountg ,- 1Boar~ of mOtuutissiollcrs ~ 1!\tn olution WHEREAS, the New Hanover County Public Library wishes to provide the best selection and largest number of books possible to its patrons; and WHEREAS, additional monies over and above that budgeted in the library's book account (number 11-6110-423) are required in order to meet this goal each year; and WHEREAS, the New Hanover County Public Library received many donations of used books and other materials which are unneeded duplicates or outdated materials; and WHEREAS, book sales of this kind are common practice in many libraries and have usually proven to be very successful; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Commissioners of New Hanover County authorized the New Hanover County Public Library to hold book sales whenever the Library determines the need, and that all sales proceeds be appropriated to the account number 11-6110-423 to be used for the purchase of new books fa the library's collection.
