WATER AND SEWER DISTRICT
1997-98 BUDGET ORDINANCE
BE IT ORDAINED by the New Hanover County, North Carolina, Water and Sewer District in
special session assembled:
Section 1: The following amount is hereby appropriated for the operation of New Hanover County
Water and Sewer District and its activities for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1997, and ending June 30,
1998, according to the following schedule:
Section 2: For said fiscal year there is hereby appropriated out of the Water and Sewer District
Fund the sum of:
$ 9,478,233
Section 3: It is estimated that the following Water and Sewer District Fund revenues will be
available during the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1997, and ending June 30, 1998, to meet the foregoing
Water and Sewer District Fund appropriations:

Section 4: Copies of this Budget Ordinance shall be furnished to the Finance Director of the New
Hanover County, North Carolina, Water and Sewer District, to be kept on file by him for his direction in the
collection of revenues and expenditures of amounts appropriated.
Section 5: That appropriations herein authorized and made shall have the amount of outstanding
purchase orders as of June 30, 1997, added to each appropriation as it appears in order to account for the
payment against the fiscal year in which it is paid.

ACCEPTANCE OF PUBLIC DEDICATION
WHEREAS, G.S. Chapter 153A, Article 15 authorizes counties to establish water and
sewer systems, and G.S. Chapter 162A, Article 6 authorizes counties to establish water and
sewer districts; and
WHEREAS, New Hanover County has established the New Hanover County Water and
Sewer District, which District has arranged for construction of a sewer system in unincorporated
County; and
WHEREAS, G.S. 153A-158 authorizes counties and districts to acquire a fee or lesser
interest in real property by gift, grant or other lawful method; and
WHEREAS, by an instrument recorded in Deed Book 1180, Page 1109, New Hanover
County Registry, a certain right-of-way known as Gordon Acres Drive has been dedicated to the
public use, which right-of-way is more fully described in said instrument and incorporated herein
by reference; and
WHEREAS, New Hanover County desires to accept the above referenced right-of-way
for the purpose of providing sewer and water services to County residents by and through the
New Hanover County Water and Sewer District.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED as follows:
That the New Hanover County Water and Sewer District hereby accepts Gordon Acres
Drive as more fully described in Deed Book 1180, Page 1109, New Hanover County Registry,
for the purpose of providing water and sewer service only. Except as specifically stated above
the District does not accept said road for any maintenance or other purpose whatsoever.
