New Hanover County Tax Commissioners
Court House
Wilmington, N C. 28401
Dear Sirs:
We sent our check for taxes October 15th, deducting
the penalty on statement for vacant lots 10 21, 22 at
Kure Beach, Tommy B. and Mildred H Lancaster. We sent
a separate check for Big Daddy's, Inc personal property
and Tommy B. Lancaster et al real estate in one check
in the amount of $3,113 00, penalty included Our book-
keeper included the penalty by mistake
When they were received in the tax collector's office,
a lady in the office ( I believe her name was Rose) called
and told me she noticed we did not deduct the penalty on one
of the checks, and suggested we write to the commissioners
asking to be excused for the penalties. When we sent our
1978 Business Property Statement in, I overlooked the real
estate. Here in Wayne County it stays on the books unless
they are notified Please grant the permission to deduct
the penalty and next year, we will be sure to do it right
Our checks have been returned to us and when we hear from
you, we will re-issue checks for payment Thank you.
Yours truly,
Mildred H. ancaster
