OATH OF OFFICE ADMINISTERED Ms. Lucie F. Harrell, Clerk to Commissioners, administered the sworn Commissioner E. L. Mathews, Jr. the Board Oath of of County Office to Members present were: Commissioner Jonathan Barfield, Sr. Commissioner W. Albert Corbett, Jr. commissioner E. L. Mathews, Jr. Commissioner Nolan O'Neal Commissioner Fred Retchin ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN FOR 1989 BOARD OF EQUALIZATION AND REVIEW Commissioner Barfield MOVED, SECONDED by Commissioner Corbett to elect Commissioner Fred Retchin as Chairman of the Board of Equalization and Review. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. PUBLIC HEARING FOR RECOGNITION OF APPEALS Tax Appraisal Supervisor, Jim Bethune, presented the following known appeals received by the Tax Department stating Public Notice had been given that appeals would be received through this date: 1. Wilmington Property Associates & South Mark Corporation Tax Map #R049-15-003-006-00A - Buildings only on land of Wilmington Property Associates Tax Map #R049-15-003-006=OOO - Land only - South Mark Corporation Known as: Colonial Parke Apartments formerly Country Club Apartments Assessed value of buildings & improvements Assessed value of land $3,260,070 323,400 $3,583,400 Total 2. Corning Glass Works Tax Map #R049-00-002-001-000 Assessed value $11,688,380 ~ 46 Appellant represented by Mr. Glen M. Fandl of Inter- national Appraisal Company has not furnished the Tax Department any evidence to support a reduction in value. ~, 3. Mr. Frank A. Incerto Tax Map #R054-11-008-008-000 Assessed Value $200,430 Appellant came in on April 14 at 4:30 P.M. The appraisal department has not had an opportunity to review the value of property. Appellant states he paid $85,000 for the property and requests an appropriate reduction. (Property was purchased in August 1988.) 4. Diversified Management Group (Fountainhead Apartments) Assessed Value $4,589,610 Letter from owner authorized firm of Easley, McCaleb and Stallings to represent them. Complaint indicates fair market value at $4,150,000 and purchase price in 1988 was $3,915,000. Chairman Retchin opened the Public Hearing asking if anyone present would like to present an appeal. No appeals were presented. Chairman Retchin closed the Public Hearing. MEETING SCHEDULE FOR HEARING APPEALS Commissioner O'Neal MOVED, SECONDED by Commissioner Mathews to schedule a meeting on Monday, May 8, 1989, at 10:00 o'clock A.M. in the General Assembly Room of the New Hanover County Courthouse. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. ADJOURNMENT Commissioner Corbett MOVED, SECONDED by Commissioner O'Neal to adjourn. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
