MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF EQUALIZATION AND REVIEW
APRIL 19, 1993
ASSEMBLY
The New Hanover County 1993 Board of Equalization and Review
met on April 19, 1993, at 11:07 A.M. in the Assembly Room of the
New Hanover County Courthouse, 24 North Third street, Wilmington,
North Carolina.
Members present were: Commissioners Sandra Barone; William A.
Caster; William E. Sisson, Jr.; E. L. Mathews, Jr.; Robert G.
Greer; County Manager, Allen O'Neal; County Attorney, Wanda M.
Copley, and Clerk to the Board, Lucie F. Harrell.
ELECTION OF COMMISSIONER ROBERT G. GREER TO SERVE AS CHAIRMAN OF
THE 1993 BOARD OF EQUALIZATION AND REVIEW
Motion: Commissioner Barone MOVED, SECONDED by Commissioner Caster
to elect commissioner Robert G. Greer to serve as the Chairman of
the 1993 Board of Equalization and Review. Upon vote, the MOTION
CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
Chairman Greer called the meeting to order.
OATHS OF OFFICE
Clerk to the Board, Lucie F. Harrell, administered the Oath of -
Office to the following County Commissioners sitting as new members
of the Board of Equalization and Review:

Commissioner william A. Caster
commissioner william E. Sisson, Jr.
Copies of the Oaths of Office are hereby incorporated as a
part of the minutes and are contained in Exhibit Book XXI, Page 3.
ENTRY OF LISTINGS INTO THE RECORD
Tax Administrator, Roland Register, presented the following
listing of property owners who have submitted written appeals. The
Tax Administrator will receive all duly filed appeals until 5:00
P.M. this afternoon.

*Split out from excess land of Heritage Baptist Church. When
the church started selling land, the Tax Department exercised
discovery as permitted by GS105-312, and rescinded exemption
for property not being used for church purposes.
Chairman Greer inquired as to whether anyone present would
like to submit an appeal.
No appeals were received.
BOARD OF EQUALIZATION AND REVIEW MEETING SCHEDULED FOR MONDAY, MAY
17, 1993
Consensus: It was the consensus of the Board to schedule a meeting
of the 1993 Board of Equalization and Review on Monday, May 17,
1993, at 1:00 P.M. in the 1st Floor Assembly Room of the New
Hanover County Administration Building, 320 Chestnut Street,
Wilmington, North Carolina.
ADJOURNMENT
Motion: Commissioner Barone MOVED, SECONDED by Commissioner Sisson
to adjourn the meeting and to accept any duly filed appeals
received by the Tax Administrator by 5:00 P.M. this afternoon. The
purpose of the meeting on May 17, 1993, is to hear only the appeals
which have been filed according to the N. C. General Statutes and
accepted by the Tax Administrator. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED
UNANIMOUSLY.
Chairman Greer adjourned the meeting at 11:28 A.M.
