HomeMy WebLinkAboutE&R 1999-05-03 I I I ~ 171 MINUTES OF THE 1999 BOARD OF EQUALIZATION & REVIEW MAY 3,1999 ASSEMBLY The New Hanover County Board of Equalization and Review met in Regular Session on Monday, May 3, 1999 at 7: 15 P.M. in the New Hanover County Judicial Building, Courtroom 317, 316 Princes Street, Wilmington, North Carolina. Members present were: Commissioner Buzz Birzenieks; Commissioner Ted Davis, Jr.; Commissioner Charles R. Howell; Vice-Chairman Robert G. Greer; Chairman William A. Caster, County Manager Allen O'Neal; County Attorney Wanda M. Copley; and Clerk to the Board, Lucie F. Harrell. ELECTION OF WILLIAM A. CASTER AS CHAIRMAN OF THE 1999 BOARD OF EQUALIZATION AND REVIEW Motion: Vice Chairman Greer MOVED, SECONDED by Commissioner Howell to appoint William A. Caster as Chairman of the 1999 Board of Equalization and Review. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. APPEALS ENTERED INTO THE RECORD Chairman Caster called the meeting to order and asked if anyone present would like to appeal their 1999 revaluation value. Mr. G. E. Lowe, a resident of 609 Trails End Road, Wilmington, NC identified himself and indicated that he had several properties he wished to appeal. Those identified parcels are: R07210- 001-001-000; R0721 0-00 1-002-000; R0721 0-00 1-00 1-002-000;R07214-002-00 1-000; R07214-002- 00 1-00A; R07214-002-00 1-00B, all identified as either Masonboro Boat Yard, G.B. Lowe, or Jonelle D. Lowe, 609 Trails End Road, Wilmington, North Carolina, 28409. Tax Administrator Glasgow reported that 100 identified appeals were filed with the Tax Department as of6:00 P.M., May 3, 1999. The Board was informed that the deadline for receiving appeals would be when the meeting is adjourned, and the list of appealed properties would be provided the Clerk to the Board after the meeting so the appeal can officially be entered into the record. A copy of the list of appeals is hereby incorporated as a part of the minutes and is contained in Exhibit Book XXV, Page 11. Chairman Caster requested the Board to schedule a date to hear the appeals. Consensus: It was the consensus of the Board to hear the appeals on June 21, 1999, at 1 :00 P.M. in the 2nd Floor Conference Room, New Hanover County Main Library, 201 Chestnut Street, Wilmington, North Carolina. j 1~7 ~) .
