NEW HANOVER COUNTY BOARD OF EQUALIZATION AND REVIEW
MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING, MAY 6, 2002
ASSEMBLY
The New Hanover County Board of Equalization and Review met on Monday, May 6,2002,
at 6: 16 P.M. in the Assembly Room of the New Hanover County Courthouse, 24 North Third Street,
Wilmington, North Carolina.

Members present were: Chairman Ted Davis, Jr.; Vice-Chairman Robert G. Greer;
Commissioner Julia Boseman; Commissioner William A. Caster; Commissioner Nancy H. Pritchett;
County Manager, Allen O'Neal; County Attorney, Wanda M. Copley; and Clerk to the Board, Lucie
F. Harrell.
Chairman Davis called the meeting to order.
APPOINTMENT OF TED DAVIS, JR. TO SERVE AS CHAIRMAN OF THE 2002 BOARD
OF EQUALIZATION AND REVIEW
Chairman Davis opened the floor to receive nominations for Chairman ofthe 2002 Board of
Equalization and Review.
Vice-Chairman Greer nominated Ted Davis, Jr. as Chairman. The nomination was seconded
by Commissioner Caster.
There being no further nomination, Chairman Davis declared the nominations closed and
called for the vote.
Vote: Chairman Davis was unanimously affirmed as Chairman ofthe 2002 Board of Equalization
and Review.
PRESENTATION OF APPEALS TO THE 2002 BOARD OF EQUALIZATION AND
REVIEW
Tax Administrator Robert C. Glasgow presented the following tax appeals received as of
5:00 P.M. in the Tax Office for entry into the record:

Chairman Davis asked if anyone present would like to present an appeal.
No appeals were presented.

Chairman Davis reported that the Tax Administrator will receive all duly filed appeals
received on this date in the Tax Office and any letters that have been postmarked no later than May
6, 2002. He also noted that the Tax Administrator would accept late appeals outside the meeting
room while the meeting resumed.
Chairman Davis requested the Board to select a date to hear the appeals.
Consensus: It was the consensus of the Board of Equalization and Review to schedule a meeting
on June 17, 2002, at 1 :00 P.M., or as soon thereafter as possible after the completion ofthe regular
meeting of the Board of Commissioners, in the Assembly Room of the New Hanover County
Courthouse, 24 North Third Street, Wilmington, North Carolina.
ADJOURNMENT
Chairman Davis announced this concluded the determination of the appellants to the Board
of Equalization and Review and that the Board will need to recess until the next meeting to hear the
appeals.
Motion: Commissioner Pritchett MOVED, SECONDED by Commissioner Caster, to recess the
meeting until June 17,2002. Upon vote, the MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
Chairman Davis recessed the meeting at 6:20 P.M.
