HomeMy WebLinkAboutE&R 2008-04-24 I I I -., NEW HANOVER COUNTY BOARD OF EQUALIZATION AND REVIEW, APRIL 24, 2008 ASSEMBLY The 2007 New Hanover County Board of Equalization and Review met on Thursday, April 24, 2008, at 1 :00 p.m. in Conference Room 601 of the New Hanover County Government Center, 230 Government Center Drive, Wilmington, North Carolina. The purpose of the meeting was to hear appeals filed by property owners regarding their tax value assessments. BOOK 1 PAGE 498 Members present were: Chairman William A. Caster, Vice-Chairman Robert G. Greer and Commissioner Nancy H. Pritchett. Commissioner Ted Davis, Jr. and Commissioner William A. Kopp were absent. Staff members present were: Tax Administrator Roger Kelley, Appraisal Supervisor Henry J. Montgomery, Appraiser Pete Richardson, and Deputy Clerk to the Board Kymberleigh G. Crowell. Board of Equalization and Review Chairman Caster called the meeting to order. TAX APPEAL PRESENTATIONS The Board heard appeal presentations from the following individuals regarding the 2007 tax assessment of real property. Each appellant was informed that the Board would make decisions following the hearings and that the Tax Administrator would notify each appellant by mail of the Board's decision. 1. Terry L. Pridgen, property owner of 633 Creekwood Rd, Wilmington, NC R02900-002-040-000. 2. John S. Slusser and Shelley P. Slusser, property owners of630 Creekwood Rd, Wilmington, NC R02900- 003-001-003. 3. Thomas James McGee and Heather A. McGee, property owners of 626 Creekwood Rd, Wilmington, NC R02900-003-002-000. 4. Donald B. Tax Administrator Kelley stated all tax payments postmarked by January 7,2008 were accepted by the Tax Office as having been received on time. Mr. Roseman supplied Administrator Kelley with a copy of a letter from the United States Post Office located at 8207 Market Street, Wilmington, NC, signed by USPS Supervisor Sherry Hellmer, which states Mr. Roseman did come into said office and presented his taxes for mailing on January 6,2008. Tax Administrator Kelley asked for direction from the Board. Consensus: The Board agreed to accept the Irvin Roseman's tax payment as being postmarked on January 7, 2008 based on the letter from the United States Post Office.
