Proposal from the Board Of Trustees of the Wilmington Public
library to the New Hanover County Commissioners.
1. That a temporary branch of the library be opened in the Acme
Building at the north-west corner of Front and Chestnut Streets,
during the period of repairs to the main library.
2. County is to underwrite all expenses incurred by the above move
and operation of the facility. The return of all books and materials
loaned by the Wilmington Public Library is part of this proposal.
No money from the library budget is to be used for any phase of
the temporary branch.
3. 'T'hat New Hanover county appropriate $2500. for 1~ecessary
expenses at this time. After the initial costs of site prep-
aration and the monthly overhead is established, future requests
will be based on those figures after the initial appropriation
is exhausted.
4. The county is to retain the above funds and pay the debts
incurred through its accounting office.
5. Miss Katherine Howell, head librarian, will select and make
available appropriate volumes when the temporary branch location
is readied.
