Mr Larry Powell
Tax Supervisor
119 North 5th Street
Wilmington, North Carolina 28401
Dear Mr Powell.
Our client, Building Associates, Inc. , has requested that we write you concerning
the late listing penalty that has been. assessed against them for 1975 The property
statement vas prepared in early February by our office and was supposed to be picked
up by someone in their office prior to the filing deadline Late Friday afternoon,
February 14th, it was discovered that the statement was still in our office and there
was no one available in the client's office authorized to sign the statement. Assuming
that since the deadline, February 15, 1975, was on a Saturday, the final day would
automatically be Monday, February 17, 1975, we advised the client's office that they
could hand deliver the statement on Monday.
We request that the penalty be abated due to the above reasons, and also because
the late filing was due to an administrative oversight and not an ixrtentional disregard
of the filing date
Cordially,
CHERRY, BEKAERT & HOLLAND
