MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING, JANUARY 10, 1974
ASSEMBLY
The New Hanover County Board of Commissioners met in special session on Thursday,
January 10,.1974, at 1:00 PM in the Assembly Room, County Commission Building, Wilmington,
North Carolina, for the purpose of interviewing architects for the proposed New Hanover
County Courthouse-Jail Complex.
Members present were Commissioners Peter R. Davis; J. M. Hall, Jr.; M. H. Vaughan;
Vivian S. Wright; Chairman W. Douglas Powell; County Manager, Dan W. Eller; and Clerk to
the Board, Lise K. King.
Chairman Powell called the meeting to order.
ARCHITECT INTERVIEWS
Interviews were held with the following architectural firms for the purpose of selecting
an architect for the proposed New Hanover County Courthouse-Jail Complex.
Cogswell/Hausler Associates from Chapel Hill, North Carolina
J. N. Pease Associates from Charlotte, North Carolina
Thompson, Ventulett & Stainback, Inc., from Atlanta,. Georgia
Wolf Assoc.iates from Charlotte, North Carolina, in association with
,John R. Oxenfeld of Wilmington, North Carolina.
Hartman-Cox Architects from Washington, D. C.
Gwathmey & Siegel, Architects, from New York, New York, in association with
Ferebee, Walters & Associates from Charlotte, North Carolina.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Board, Chairman Powe11 adjourned
the meeting at 6:00 PM to reconvene on Friday, January 11, 1974, at 9:00 AM for the purpose
of continuing the interviews. ,

January 11., 1974, at 9:00 AM in the Assembly Room, County Commission Building, Wilmington,

Ballard, McKim and Sawyer of Wilmington, North Carolina.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Board, Chairman Powell adjourned
the meeting at 12:50 PM.
