AUGUST CRIMINAL TERM, 1963
(For Special Venire)
The two above causes coming on for hearing at the August, 1963, Criminal Term
of Superior Court of New Hanover County, and;being consolidated for the purpose of trial,
each growing out of the same subject matter, and it appearing to the Court that each of
the defendants is indicted for the capital crime of Rape, and the Solicitor for the State
having announced that each of said defendants?will be piaced on trial for his life, and
It appearing to the Court, and the Court finding as a fact, that it wi21 be"
necessary, to insure the rights of each of said defendants, to summons a panel of jurors
by special venire, in addition to those already summonsed as regular jurors,
IT 1S NOW ORDERED THAT the Clerk to the Board of C ounty Commissioners.of
New Hanover County be and appear in the Superior Court Room of New Hanover County, and
have wfth him Jury Box No. 1, at 3:00 o'clock, P. M., this 12Lh day of August 1963, and ,
that he, with the Clerk of this Court, stiall then and.there proceed to have drawn from
said Box No. 1; containing the scsolls of jurors, bya child under the age of ten years,
75 scrolls, the same to constitute a Special Venire from which from which to select jurors
for the trial of these causes, and that a list of such jurors so drawn shall be prepared
and delivered to the Sheriff of New Hanover County for immediate service, to be and appear
in the Superior Courtroom of New Hanover County at 2:30 P. M., Tuesday, August 13th, 1963
and
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED, that said Sheriff of AJew Hanover County shali forwith
summons, or caused to be summonsed, the persons whose names appear upon the aforesaid
list, to be and appear at the day and hour hereinbefore set forth to act a Jurors in the
trial of said causes if chosen, sworn and empannelled,'returning'to the Clerk of this
Court said list.
