It appearing to the Court that there are only twenty-three jurors•present for the
trial of Criminal cases at this Term of Court, and the Court being of the opinion that
it is necessary for the proper and efficient operation of this Court that thirty-five
additional jurors should be drawn and summonded to be and appear to act as jurors if se-
lected, it is NOW . .
Ordered that the Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners, or some one under
his authority forthwith brin5 into this Court Box No. 1, of Jurors, from which thirty-
five scrolls shall be selected, and that thereupon the Sheriff of New Hanover County or one
or more of his Deputies shall,summons such persons named on the scrolls drawn to be and
appear in the Superior Courtroom of New Hanover County, at 9:30 A. M. Tuesday, January 12th,
1965• Herein Fai2 not, but of this writ make due return.

Special Venire
It appearing to the Court, that the above named Defendant, Spicer Herbert Grices,
stands charged in two bills of indictment, one for the crime of carnal knowledoe, and one
for the capital crime of Rape, and is being tried upon both bills of indictments, which
cases were consolidated for the purpose of trial upon motion of the defendant, and
It appearing to the Court, and the Court finding as a fact, that it will be necess-
ary, to ensure the rights of the defendant, to summons a panel of Jurors by special venire,
in addition to those already summonsed and present as regular jurors,
IT IS NOW, ORDERED THAT THE Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners.of New
Hanover County, or some qualified person under his control be and appear in the Superior
I? Courtroom of New Hanover County, and have with him Jury Box Number one, at 12:30 P. M.,
i o'clock on the 13 day of January,1965, and that he with the Clerk of the Superior Court
of New Hanover County, shall then and there proceed to have drawn from said Jury Box
Number on, containing the scrolls of jurors, by a child under the age of ten years,
125 scrolls, Lhe same to sonstitute a Special Venire from which to select jurors for
the trial of these causes, and that a list of such jurors so drawn shall be prepared and de-
livered to the Sheriff of New Hanover County for immediate service, and
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED, That said Sheriff of New Hanover County shali forthwith sum-
mons, or caused to be summonsed, the persons whose names appear upon the aforesaid list,
to be and appear at the Court Room of the County of New Hanover County at 2:30 o'clock,
P. M., this date, or forthwiih, as the exigencies of the situation demand, to serve as
jurors in this Special Venire in the trial of said causes if chosen, sworn and compannelled,
? returning to the Clerk of this Court, said list.
