A commtu;ication was received from the 5tate Highway and Pub11c Ylorks Commission advising that the Commission at its meeting or: September 1, 1.951.t approved the addition to our ?h County Highway System, the fol7.owing roads: -'Prospect Cemetery Road, Middle Sound -Trask 'Hoad, Nlasonboro Township ,-Nixon Boulevard, Harnett " ,,Castte Hayne Station Road and a from .Castie Hayne Road to Rocky Run in Cape Fear '?'ownship. Upon motion of Mrt 0'Shieids, seconded by -r. Davis, Ivlr. A. Wiibur Clark, Third Division State Highway Commissioner, was urged to furnish this Board with a statement of expenditures of funds for primary and secondary roads and ba?ance in the road bond fund a'iotted to this County, together with any other information concerning road allotments. The Board feeling, with this information, we viou'd be iri a better position to get other roads bui.lt before the funds are exhausted ar,d wiil aid us ir; pianning our road program. Nr. 0'uhields' reported at ¢ieetine of August 6, that at a previous confeTei;ce he ar.d other members of the Board had with IVir. Clark in Fayettevi'le, he promised to furnish the Board with this ir.formation promptly, but the same has not yet been received. Surety bond for Mr. C. R. Morse as Tar. Co'lector in the amount of $37,500.00 with the national Surety Corporation as surety, was received, the said amoui,t having been fixed by the Board and the bond approved as to form and execution by the Cowity Attorney, was upon motion of &ir. Love, seconded ty Mr. 0'Shields, approve@ by the Board. Upon motion of Mr. Davis, seconded by Mr. Love, Mr. Chas. F. Jones was granted ar: abatement of not listed penalty charged against lot 33 IJforitgomery Place, Harnett Township, aY.d the _30- Wiimington Electricai Supply Company, VJitmington township for the year 1950. It appeared that he listed other property in the City and County and prepaid the taxes or, same for 19509 thinking the above was included. . ? Upon motior. of Mr. Davis, seconded by Mr. Love, the Board authorized and directed the preparation of a revised jury ?ist in accordance with the iaw. A letter of acknowledgment as,d appreciatior. was received from Rear Admiral G. B. Davis, ? Commandant, Sixth Nava1 District, for the joint resolution of the City, County and Chamber ?of Commerce August 8, 1.951, ofPering to give full aid and coober•ation to any of our Armed Forces install.ations mhich may be established in this Cour,ty. Upon motior, of Nr. Davis,• seconded by Dfr. 0'Shie7ds, DGr. C. R. Morse, Tax Co].l.ector and `aL Mr. J. E. Canady, Back Tax CoTiector, were authorized to atten@ a meeting of the Tax ? Co1lectors Association to be held at the Institute of Government at Chapel Hiil, on October 8, 9, and lOth; at the joint expense of the City and County. Upon motior of Mr. Davis, seconded by Mr. Love, the Board extended the Mexican Petroleum Company a vote of congratulations on the occasion of the opening of its plant in this County. . "Upon raotion of Commissioner 0'Shieids, seconded by Commissioner Davis, the Chairman and the Cierk of the Board were authorized and ditected to execute, on behatf of the Courty, ,N ,p?ar, agreerent prepared by the Civii Aeronautics Admiriistration granting to the United States ? R1aK of America, acting through the Civii Aeronautics AdminisUration, the tight to operate the airport control tower at Aew Hanover Coiuity Airport, office space for the purpose of operating twer,ty-four hour weather service arid space in the new airport traffi.c control tower to be used for Traffic Coritz°ol Tovaer ai.d Communi.cations Station.
