Davist unty Attorney Marsden Be7+amy. , The Chairman discussed the present three heating plants now in use at the Couiity Home with ? the vievu of coriso•idating a,+ heating into orie plant if and when trouble arises in the future C with one of the heating plants. The Chairman also reported that a schoo• for County Commissioners would be he•d on Jaz:uary 13 and '74 at Chape' H1l•, IN. C., under the auspicies of the Institute of Gonernmet'it, and was granted authority to reserve tpo rooma at the Carolina Inn for the Commissioners eho could attend. ,?O+vh;r. It was decided to meet with Mr. Black and Mr. Fiewlett to work out the schedu•e in detai, and resubmit the matter to the Board at its next meeting. The Chairman discussed holding the +isting.of taxes period to the month of January, and that sil listings submitted after that date be penalized 10% for ?ate -listing. ,o action avas taken. The Chairman suggested looking into::the possibility of payirig the tax assessors on a piece basis rather thai. the present per diem. It was decided to discuss this with the assessors-ar,d report back to the Board. _ Mr. J. J. Burney,Jr.q appeared ii. behalf o£ the Corbett Package Company to offer to purchase a strip of land belonging to Nevc Har.over County and adjoining the Corbett Plant. Mr. Bel•amy - pili investigate the matter and report back to the Board at its riext meeting. Upon the motion of idr. Iovet secoi>ded by I+.r. Messrs Junfus Counci" , Beery ft??.iams ar.d Grissoii A+len, representing the Junior Chamber of Commerce, appeared to urge the Board to reconsider its action of.December 22, 1952t to postpone revaiuation of property for two qears, and insisted that revaluation was needed to obtain equa,ization of assessments. The matter was discussed at length, and Mr. 0'Shlelds moved that the Board recorisider Mr. Trask's'motion of December 229 to postpone revaluation for two years, his motion was seconded by Mr. 7ove, but when t5r. Trask and B4r.'Davia voted against his motion, the Chairman stated that it was hls feeling that a two year postponement was r,ot too long a period, based on past experiances, aud therefore •et it stand on the origirz, motion. His action met with the approva+ of ihe Board. No ob3ections were iidicated by the Board to the app'ication of Herbert E. Bohanon for a State k6- Permit to sel• beer at i16 S. Front Street. ' ? I,ove, the Board authorized and directed the preparation ,?of a bi]., that would give the Commissioners authority to fix fees in the Realster of Deeds Office and probate fees in the office of the C•erk of the Superior Court.
