Meeting Minutes—Real Estate/Building Committee
The New Hanover County ABC Board Real Estate/Building Committee attended a construction meeting
hosted by Bordeaux Construction Company,on-site at 210 Judges Road, Wilmington,NC on January 14,
2014 at 10:30 AM in their construction trailer.
1. Attendees:
NHC ABC Board:
Board Members: Robert Martenis,Vice Chair and David Matthews, Committee Member.
Staff: Gary Cain,Retail&LBD Operations Manager and Dan Sykes CEO.
Board Consultant: T.J. Land, Construction Manager.
LS3P Associates, LLC: Taylor Simms, Senior Associate/Project Manager; and Christopher
Lucas, Senior Associate/Field Auditor.
Bordeaux Construction Company, Inc.: Ben Warren, Project Manager; and Ben Brisson, on-
site Project Superintendent.
Trade Supervisors (Electrical, plumbing,and roofing)were all in attendance.
2. Mr. Warren and Mr. Brisson provided information regarding several subjects as follows: See
Attachment"A"dated 1/13/2014.
3. A change order was being prepared but the total dollar amount was not yet available. The
scheduled substantial completion date was moved to September 2, 2014 (formerly 8/17/2014 —
this was due to work permit delays).
4. Two questions were directed to Mr. Cain. One question was in regards to bathroom appliances
(hand driers, paper towel holders, etc.); Mr. Cain confirmed with Ms. Simms that the contact was
Lee Grant at Coastal Chemicals. The other question was in regards to lobby furniture; Mr. Cain
confirmed the contact was Alan Brisson at Forms and Supplies, Inc.
5. Mr. Jason Wade from Woods Engineering had a question regarding the building's "FM Rating".
Mr. Sykes stated that he would refer the question to the Board's risk management consultant to
contact Mr. Wade directly.
6. The next construction meeting is scheduled for February 11, 2014 at 10:30 AM on-site
(construction trailer near 210 Judges Road entrance).

-Status of permits; CFPUA ROW issues (this permit is holding up utility submittals and
utility installation. Is there any reason why we cannot approve the utility submittals such
that these materials can be procured?

Outstanding Safety Issues
All persons entering the job site are to wear proper attire including long pants,boots, and
Hard hats. Proper safety attire is required when necessary (gloves, goggles, ear plugs,
dust masks, respirators, etc...). Personnel observed in non-compliance with this policy
will be issued a verbal warning for the first occurrence, a written warning for the second
occurrence, and will be asked to leave the job site for the third occurrence. We reserve
the right to remove anyone from the jobsite without prior warning for egregious safety
violations (drugs, alcohol, fighting,blatant OSHA violations, etc...). We take safety
seriously and appreciate everyone's help in maintaining a safe jobsite.
