DIRECTORS REPORT
Harry Tuchmayer distributed the Director’s report to the board prior to the meeting.
In addition to the items covered in the report, he reported on the following:
On Monday, Feb. 24th the Library will unveil their new web page. The new page will
feature a new look and all tabs/links will be library related. The current page was
required to feature County links which confused patrons by moving them from the
Library page to other County department sites. In order to keep the site current, the
library has editing authority. The new site will also feature a mobile app. A snap shot
look of the home/launch page was printed and distributed to the board for review and
discussion.
To address patron complaints that library cards need to be renewed after one year, a new
policy change will extend the date to 3 years. We are working with TLC to create email
alert reminders to patron when their cards are due for renewal.
We have added the County’s Fire Services training materials to our collection. This will
allow their staff easy access to their materials for check out.
The second installment of Story Walk will be featured at Hugh McRae Park. The book,
Bug Safari, will focus on healthy living by incorporating exercise during the walk.
Quotes for printing are in process and the installment should be finalized in about a
month.
The Story Place room in the Children’s room at Main is 1/3 completed. Carpet and
painting are completed. A large screen TV has been hung on the wall and the interactive
panels are being installed.
An in-house Computer Use Survey (US Impact Survey) was completed and over 200
patrons participated. The results showed that 70% of the patrons use the public
computers for job searches and 15% stated that they did get a new job.
