HomeMy WebLinkAbout2014-03-20 Agenda Review NEW HANOVER COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS BOOK 33 AGENDA REVIEW MEETING, MARCH 20, 2014 PAGE 42 ASSEMBLY The New Hanover County Board of Commissioners met for Agenda Review Meeting on Thursday, March 20, 2014 following the Special Meeting with the City of Wilmington and the Cape Fear Public Transportation Authority at 4:45 p.m. in the Harrell Conference Room at the New Hanover County Government Center, 230 Government Center Drive, Wilmington, North Carolina. Members present: Chairman Woody White; Vice-Chair Beth Dawson; and Commissioner Thomas Wolfe. Due to a previous commitment, by consensus of the Board, Commissioner Jonathan Barfield, Jr. was excused. Commissioner Brian Berger was absent. Staff present: County Attorney Wanda Copley; County Manager Chris Coudriet; and Clerk to the Board Sheila L. Schult. REVIEW AND DISCUSSION OF AGENDA ITEMS Chairman White called the Agenda Review meeting to order and announced that the purpose of the meeting is to review and discuss the Board’s March 24, 2014, Regular Session meeting agenda. The Board reviewed the following items with discussion as noted: Consent Agenda Item 1 – Approval of Minutes. Consent Agenda item 2 – Ratification of Proclamation to Recognize March 2014 as Poverty Awareness Month in New Hanover County. Consent Agenda Item 3 –Adoption of Resolution Authorizing New Hanover County to Submit an Application to Become a Partner in the Watch for Me NC” Campaign. Consent Agenda Item 4 –Adoption of Budget Amendments. Regular Agenda Item 5 – Consideration of Resolution for Negotiation of an Installment Financing Contract Not to Exceed $20,000,000 and Directing the Publication of Notice with Respect Thereto. Regular Agenda Item 6 – Public Hearing and Consideration of Industrial Investment Grant Pursuant to North Carolina General Statute 158-7.1. Regular Agenda Item 7 –New Hanover County Risk Management Advisory Committee Annual Update. Regular Agenda Item 8 – Approval of Funding for Carolina Beach Inlet Fourth Quarter. Shore Protection Manager Layton Bedsole reported that to date Carolina Beach has appropriated $13,758.85 and Kure Beach and Wrightsville Beach have each appropriated $2,275.90 for the fourth quarter funding for the Carolina Beach Inlet dredging. Wrightsville Beach has notified the County that this will be their final appropriation for the Carolina Beach Inlet dredging project. It is anticipated that the City of Wilmington will consider a contribution at their meeting on April 2, 2014. The Budget Ordinance Amendment in the amount of $78,312 is available for Board consideration. Regular Agenda Item 9 – Consideration of Appointments to the Newly Created Comprehensive Plan Policy Recommendation Committee. Regular Agenda Item 10 – Committee Appointments.
